Gloria Marie Bartak, age 87, died Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at Jennie M. Melham Memorial Medical Center, Broken Bow.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Evangelical Free Church in Broken Bow. Burial will be in the Cliff Table Cemetery west of Merna. Memorials have been established to the American Caner Society or the Merna FFA Chapter. Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 14, 2011, 8 AM to 8 PM with the family greeting friends 6 PM to 7 PM at Govier Bros. Mortuary.
Due to declining student enrollments and a desire to continue providing quality extra-curricular athletic programs, the Ansley and Litchfield Boards of Education have voted to approve a cooperative agreement involving girlsâ€™ and boysâ€™ athletic programs for grades 7-12. Some of the cooperative agreement will be phased in during the existing school year with the start of Junior High Wrestling, Junior High girlsâ€™ and boysâ€™ basketball and track along with High School girlsâ€™ and boysâ€™ track.

MULLEN--The Lady Broncos were able to upend the Hawks in three sets, 25-22, 26-24 and 25-21.
Mikayla Daniels served for eight points in the first set and led all scorers with 10 points overall.
Rachel Hoesing served for seven points, five that came in the third and final set.
Clara Vinton served for six points, Jessica Lovitt and Amber Wright each recorded five points and Madison Tomlinson tallied four points.
Hoesing played the net well and recorded 16 kills and four ace blocks.
Dustin Edward Florian and Katie Lynn Andreasen were united in marriage June 18, 2011, at United Lutheran Church in Lincoln. Pastor Myron Meyer officiated.
Parents of the couple are Robert and Corinne Andreasen of Merna and Chuck Florian of Milburn. Grandparents of the couple are Viola Andreasen of Genoa and Milo and Delores Florian of Ord.
Kelly Dean Reynolds of Mitchell was called home by our Heavenly Father Oct.8, 2011, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff after a heroic four month battle with pancreatic cancer.
Kelly was born Oct. 7, 1963, to Donna (Scheide) and Larry Reynolds at Burwell. He attended schools in Seneca and Mullen.
After graduating, Kelly moved on to the adventure of Kearney State College to further his education.
Charlotte Cash, 89 of Mullen, died Friday, Oct. 7, 2011, at her sonâ€™s home.
She was born Feb. 18, 1922, in Broken Bow to Thomas W. Govier and Emma (Johnson) Govier. She was raised in Swiss Valley, and received her education at Gates.
She married Roy Edward Cash, and lived in Broken Bow where she was employed by the Broken Bow Nursing Home, Dr. English as a dental tech, and retired from BD in 1984. She was a member of Weissert Church of God and Mullen Senior Center.
Carolyn I. Haller, 68, of Wood River, died Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Mass of the Christian burial was Oct. 7, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wood River with the Rev. James Janovec officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Wood River. Memorials are suggested to St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wood River. Apfel Funeral Home of Wood River was in charge of arrangements.
Edward J. Schulte, age 80 of Ansley, died Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011, at Husker Homes in Ansley.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Oct. 12 at the Christian Church in Ansley, with the Rev. Mel Shepherd and the Rev. Bill Ragan officiating. Burial was in the Ansley Cemetery with Military Rites. Memorials may be made to the family. Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow was in charge of arrangements.
Graveside services for Charles F Headley, 80 of Broken Bow, formerly of Gibbon, North Platte, and Grand Island, were Oct. 12, 2011, at Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell. Burial was in the Fort McPherson National Cemetery with Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow in charge of the arrangements.
Charles died in the home of his eldest daughter, Dawn Elizabeth Escalona in Broken Bow, Oct. 5, 2011. He was born June 21, 1931, at Brownville, to Leland (Slim) G. and Cleo A. (Kinney) Headley.
Funeral services for Roland Roy Kaelin, age 75 of Ansley, were Monday, Oct. 10, 2011, at the First Baptist Church in Ansley with the Rev. Bill Ragan officiating. Burial will be in the Ansley Cemetery with Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow in charge of arrangements. Memorials have been established to the Ansley Baptist Church or the Ansley Fire and Rescue unit.
