C. Azale Line, 89 of Miller, died Monday, March 21, 2011, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Funeral services were March 24, at 10:30 a.m. at the Miller Methodist Church in Miller with the Rev. Bonnie Brock officiating. Burial will be at the Armada Cemeter in Miller. Visitation is planned prior to services Thursday at the church. Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney is in charge of arrangements. Stella Carruth, 96

March 24, 2011

Stella Helen Carruth, age 96 of North Platte, passed away March 16, 2011, at Premier Estates. She was born Aug. 23, 1914, in Milburn to William and Cora Clarke Barnes.
Stella grew up in Blaine County. She married Clayton Carruth Oct. 28, 1934, in Greeley. He preceded her in death in 1963.
The couple lived in Blaine County for many years. They lived in Custer County for five years and then back to Blaine County. Stella worked at local restaurants and for the Brewster School System.

Board discusses bond options

The Broken Bow Board of Education continues to focus attention on trying to meet the challenging needs of the district’s facilities, and at Monday evening’s meeting information was presented on what could be a very promising financing solution.
Jay Spearman and Mark Mumford of Ameritas Investment Corp., discussed Qualified School Construction Bonds, of which BBPS has qualified for an allocation in the amount of $5,830,000. What makes these bonds special is the fact that they are very low interest, allowing the district to save lots of money in interest charges over the life of the bond.

Wind Project clears zoning hurdle

Custer County took one more step toward housing a wind farm Tuesday when the Custer County Board of Supervisors voted 5-1 to approved a Conditional Use Permit for construction to begin.
Supervisor Richard Hodson cast the lone opposing vote.
The permit applicant was Broken Bow Wind, LLC, a division of Midwest Wind Energy.
