Broken Bow ran into a buzz saw in Kearney Catholic, dropping the game 41-0, ending their season record at 7-3. Anselmo-Merna also saw their season come to an end with a 46-6 loss to Giltner Wednesday night. Giltner scored 90 points in their opening round playoff game. October 30th
Make plans to attend a Community Health Fair Oct. 30, from 3:30-7:30 p.m. at Mid Plains Community College in Broken Bow. The evening will focus on health issues prevalent in today’s lifestyles.
Health Fair chair Kathy Hillje said she is excited about what is being offered.
“(The event) is not just focused on general health, but on all aspects of what constitutes a healthy lifestyle.”

Broken Bow pulled out a dramatic win over Gibbon Thursday night to advance to the next round of the class C1 state playoffs. Broken Bow trailed 10-6 with just under five minutes left in the game and were stopped on a 4th down. The very next play, Gibbon snapped the ball over the head of the quarterback into the back of the end zone, resulting in a safety, cutting the score to 10-8. On the next possession, Marcus Miller hooked up with Hunter Campbell for the second time on the night, giving Broken Bow a 16-10 lead.

The Custer County Sheriff’s Office receives reports of phone or email scams on a weekly basis. These types of crimes cost people thousands of dollars and are very difficult to trace. The phone calls or emails are originated in foreign countries making the recovery of money almost impossible. The best way to protect yourself from these crimes is to learn what to watch for and understand what is a legitimate call or email and what isn’t. I have put together a few things that will help you identify a scam.
William Randall Borders, 63 of Cody, Wyo., formerly of Broken Bow, passed away Oct. 7, 2012, at his home.
A memorial service was Oct. 11, 2012, at the Ballard Funeral Home in Cody, Wyo. Memorials are suggested to his family.
Randy R. Borders, son of William Rainey Borders and Ruth (Austin) Borders, was born Feb. 7, 1949, in Albion. He was a graduate of Broken Bow High School, class of 1968.
Jerry Duane Norris was born Aug. 28, 1939, in Brewster. He was the second child born to Dan and Mary Cuplin Norris.
Jerry spent his early childhood in Brewster and attended elementary school there. When Jerry was a teenager his family moved to California. He graduated from John Marshall High School in 1958.
During this time he worked with his father in the family owned machine shop. He attended two years at LA Community College and studied engineering. Jerry decided that his true calling was becoming a tool and die maker, so he went back to working in the machine shop.
Colleen Yvonne (Wilson) Geiser was born July 31, 1932, in Berwyn, to Tom and Anna (Roessler) Wilson. Her family headed west to Oregon during the Great Depression, but had to settle in Idaho when they ran out of money.
