Nelda "Babe" (Keller) Terry, age 68, of Riverside, Calif,, died Friday, March 9, 2012. She was born Jan. 1, 1944, in Broken Bow, Willard and Myra (Patterson) Keller.
Georgetta Lynn “Jo” Kelly, 38, of Cozad, died Monday, March 19, 2012, at the Cozad Community Hospital in Cozad.
Jo was born Nov. 2, 1973, in Beatrice, to David and Susan (Wolfe) Andersen. She obtained her GED in 2009.
Oct. 20, 1992, she was united in marriage to Ryan D. Kelly at the United Methodist Church in Eddyville. They made their home in and around the Lexington area. To this union three children were born; Justine, Austin and Briana Jo.
Carolyn Ann Collier passed away at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney March 21, 2012. She was born Sept. 7, 1940, to Walter and Vera (Fichter) Rieber on their family farm near Minden, Iowa.
The family moved to Blaine County, Dec. 12, 1947. She attended school in Dunning, Brewster and Taylor. She was active in volleyball and enjoyed attending dances.
She married Irvin Pollard June 24, 1957, and to this union was born a son, Kirk, and a daughter, Karla.
Dr. Robert R. Koefoot, 89, long time medical surgeon of Grand Island, died Thursday, March 22, 2012, at Riverside Lodge with his family at his side.
Services were March 26, 2012, at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Caroline Price-Gibson officiating. Burial was in Grand Island City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church, Grand Island. Apfel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Patricia “Pat” Dee Crow, 76 of Arnold, went to be with the Lord Sunday, March 25, 2012, at her home in Arnold.
Pat was born Aug. 30, 1935, at the Arnold Hospital to Edgar and Cleo (Spratt) Deterding. She graduated from the Arnold High School in 1953.
She married Darrell L. Crow at Arnold May 10, 1953. Four children were born to this union; Penny, Joy, Allen and Cindy.
Retired Army MSgt. Walter F. Blake, 89, of Dannebrog was greeted in heaven by family and friends Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Services will be 10 am, Friday, March 30, 2012, at the First Baptist Church Family Center in Dannebrog with the Rev. Barry Arndt officiating. Interment will be at 3 p.m., Friday in Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell. Visitation will be Thursday, from 5 - 7 p.m. with a friends and family remembrance service to be held at 7 p.m. at the church.
Dr. Robert Leroy Ayres of Frederick, Md., died Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Marilyn Ayres.
Bom July 4, 1941 in Comstock, Bob was the son of the late Leroy and Nellie Ayres. He graduated high school from Albany Union High in Albany, Ore. He worked several years as a butcher’s assistant, grocery clerk, and heavy equipment operator to earn the money for college.
Dorothy Drake Pollard, age 93, formerly of Milburn area, died Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at the Valley County Hospital in Ord.
Funeral services were Friday, March 23, at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow with the Rev. Don Schauda officiating. Burial was in the Moulton Cemetery west of Taylor Memorials may be given to the Dorothy Pollard Memorial Fund. Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow was in charge of arrangements.
Jean Hoffman of Battle Creek, Iowa will be the featured speaker during the Broken Bow Berean Church's Ladies Spring Luncheon Saturday, March 31. The luncheon will begin at noon at the Broken Bow Municipal Building. This year's theme is "Walking with Christ" with the theme verse of Isaiah 40:11- "He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently
leads those that have young."

The old adage, “it takes a village to raise a child”, has been taken to heart by one group of Broken Bow school district parents. The Broken Bow PTA has come a long way from the Harper Valley days Jeannie C. Riley sang about!
Thanks to the efforts of the Broken Bow PTA, the school district has been able to acquire technology equipment and support programs they may have otherwise not had the ability to do. Throughout just the past few years the group has raised literally thousands of dollars for the schools and spearheaded major projects such as the playground at Custer.
