Following a hearing by the Judicial Nominating Committee in Broken Bow yesterday afternoon, the names of two Broken Bow attorneys, Michael S. Borders and Tami K. Schendt, have been forwarded to Governor Heineman’s office for consideration for appointment to County Judge in the 8th Judicial District.

Custer Public Power is sending out a red flag. Nebraska Public Power and our local power district need your help.
On July 4, NPPD’s customers set an all-time energy usage peak of an estimated 3,036 megawatts. The new all-time peak bettered a previous record of 2,851 megawatts reached the day before, July 3, 2012. Prior to this, NPPD’s last all-time peak was 2,671 megawatts set on July 30, 2006.
Custer Public Power sets its own new record of 118 megawatts, 18 more than last year.

For the past two months or so, Broken Bow had been looking for a rainmaker.
At approxiametly 6:30 Thursday night, farmers crops and families yards received a much needed bath.
The most telling sign that there was a higher power that night, however, came when Chad Christensen stepped on the baseball field at Tomahawk Park.
Just as Christensen had done a week earlier at a Lincoln Saltdogs game, he threw out the ceremonial first pitch before the championship game that was postponed until Monday at 7 p.m.
