Sherry "Sam" Keezer, 51

September 18, 2012

Sherry "Sam" Keezer, age 51 of Burlingame, Kan., died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012, at her mother's home in Ansley.
Memorial graveside services were Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, at 10 a.m. at the Ansley Cemetery with the Rev. Mel Shepherd officiating. Mem-orials may be given to the donor's choice in Sherry's memory.
Sherry "Sam" Ann Keezer was born June 30, 1961, at Sargent, to Jack and Nancy (Reid) Keezer. Since her dad worked construction, Sam lived in many different places growing up. She graduated from Table Rock High School in Table Rock.

Ralph Shoemaker, 73

September 18, 2012

Ralph Shoemaker, age 73 of Ansley, died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012, at the UNMC in Omaha.
Funeral services were Saturday, Sept. 1, at the First Baptist Church in Ansley with the Rev. Bill Ragan and the Rev. Don Schauda officiating. Burial was in the Box Elder Cemetery at Cumro. Memorials have been established to the family. Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow was in charge of arrangements.
Ralph E. Shoemaker was born Oct. 21, 1938, at Cumro, to Ross and Hazel (Sorensen) Shoemaker. Ralph attended school at Flat Bottom rural school and graduated from Ansley High School.

Dale Douglass, 91

September 18, 2012

Dale Gordon Douglass passed away peacefully July 26, 2012, at the age of 91, just one month shy of his 70th wedding anniversary. He was the last of his generation, being predeceased by his siblings.
He was a loving husband and father to all his children. He had a full, responsible, and abundant life. His family will greatly miss him.

Joyce Hendricks, 76

Joyce Elaine Hendricks, 76, of Callaway, passed away Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, at the Golden Living Center in Broken Bow.
She was born Dec. 20, 1935, at Oconto, to Fred and Elsie (Studley) Dittmar. Joyce graduated from Oconto High School with the class of 1953, and then furthered her education at Kearney State College where she studied to be a teacher. She taught rural school in Custer County for a couple years.
December 20, 1954, she married the love of her life, Richard Hendricks, in Oconto. Four children were blessed to this marriage; Mike, Judy, Dan and Dennis.

Judge Schendt sworn in

September 17, 2012

Judge James Orr performed the swearing in ceremony for new 8th circuit County Judge Tami Schendt Friday afternoon. The ceremony took place in the District Courtroom of the Custer County Courthouse. A full room of friends, family members, law enforcement officers and fellow attorneys was on hand in support of Schendt during the event.

Brady tops Lady Mustang volleyball

Brady topped the Lady Mustangs on the court tonight. Coach Cody Whipley thought tonight was their best game of the season, but Brady, a perennial strong contender took home the victory.

The scores read 16-25, 19-25, 25-19 and 17-25

Brady too much for SEM football

The Eagles of Brady proved to be too much for the Mustangs tonight, beating SEM 56-12 on a night where Brady seemed to be in a different class.

Brady used their speed an quickness to get past SEM defenders, who lack speed on the edges.

Stanley Nordlund, 85

Stanley John Nordlund, age 85, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Aug. 14, 2012, at the Rose Lane Home in Loup City.
A celebration of his life was Aug. 18, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Loup City, with Pastor Del Unruh officiating. Burial was at Tallin Cemetery near Arnold.
Stanley was born April 1, 1927, to Axel and Mabel (Tallin) Nordlund at the family farm on Tallin Table. Mabel was told she had given birth to a baby girl and was then handed a precious little baby boy “April Fools”! He was the youngest of six children.
