60 Nebraska cities and areas designated as places by the U.S. Census were included in this analysis. Only places with a population greater than 2,000 were considered.

When young families settle down, they look for opportunities in the job market and in quality schools for their kids. We wanted to identify the best in Nebraska, and so we asked the following questions as we analyzed cities and towns across the state:

10th annual Junk Jaunt - bigger and better than ever

The 10th annual Junk Jaunt is in the books - and by all accounts was bigger and better than ever!
In April 2004, the tourism committee of Loup Rivers Scenic Byway came up with the idea of organizing a long-distance garage sale. During the next five months, Nebraska’s Junk Jaunt was launched with a handful of volunteers, $500 in advertising donations and the use of a copy machine at the Loup Basin RC&D office.

Julia A. Eichelberger, 49

Julia Ann Eichelberger, age 49 of Broken Bow, passed away Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at her home. Julie was born Dec. 31, 1963, at Callaway Hospital to Terry and Marge Eichelberger.
Julie grew up in Broken Bow where she attended school until she was a junior. She graduated from Hastings High School in 1981.
At a young age Julie was diagnosed with a rare heart condition and later with diabetes. Even though she struggled with this throughout her life she never lost her love of life or her love for her family. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her family and friends.
