*Broken Bow Elks Lodge 1688 invites all area veterans to a special Appreciation Dinner - Tuesday, Nov. 12, in the BPOE Lodge Room in Broken Bow. Social hour will begin at 6:30 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m.
*A special Boy Scout Flag Retirement Ceremony will be held Monday, Nov. 11 in the Broken Bow City Square beginning at 7 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend.

LINCOLN--Only one person stepped forward to testify Thursday on a proposed revision to Nebraska's good-time rules for prisoners.
The Department of Correctional Services held a public hearing at the Lincoln Regional Center seeking comment on the proposal.
Currently, prisoners can shave off time from their sentences if they are well behaved in prison. The state can take away earned good time if a prisoner does something wrong. The proposed changes would double the amount of good time that could be taken away.
When I was 7 years old and the Miss America pageant was on TV, it was a family night to watch. Letâ€™s face it all those women are gorgeous and talented. My friends and I took turns playing 3rd runner up, 2nd runner up, 1st runner up and then Miss America. One of us would do the teary eye walk, of course with the elbow, elbow, wrist, wrist, wave, as the other 3 three would sing â€˜There she is Miss America.â€™
