Edwin Banning, 89

Edwin Banning, 89 of Mystic, Conn., passed away March 1, 2013, surrounded by his family. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 65 years, Helen (Robertson) Banning.
Ed was born Oct. 19,1923, in Mason City, to Roy and Ella (Reed) Banning. He grew up in Mason City with his younger sister, Harlene, and had, by all acounts, an idyllic childhood. He and all his friends spent their time helping their families, swimming in the Muddy Creek, looking for arrow heads and generally causing mischief. This was growing up in America at it's best.

Custer County District Judge Karin Noakes firmly addressed Trent Esch Thursday morning before passing sentence on him in District Court.
"It is obvious to everyone involved in this case that you have an extreme problem with alcohol, and despite everyone's efforts - including the judicial system - it has just gotten worse," said Judge Noakes. "And the repercussions of that have escalated. You certainly intended to send a message when you chose this target, and that's disturbing."
