Variety show tonight!

Members of the Broken Bow High School band percussion department will perform a special number on trash cans as part of the Variety Show tonight, March 11. The event is a fundraiser for the Little Feet, Big Dreams campaign and will begin at 7 p.m. in the Middle School Auditorium. Tanner Fruit to speak at Arcadia Family Banquet

The 28th Annual Family Banquet, hosted by the Arcadia United Methodist Men, has been scheduled for Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 7 p.m. in the Arcadia School Gym. The featured speaker for this year’s banquet will be Mr. Tanner Fruit.
Tanner is a native of Ogallala, and is currently a senior at the University of Nebraska -Kearney majoring in Exercise Science. During high school, Tanner helped lead his school to the State Class B cross country title as a senior.

MOPS sponsor run/walk ‘Bunny Hop’

The Broken Bow Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) invites everyone to hop along the trail with them Easter weekend.
The group is hosting a fundraiser “Bunny Hop” 5K fun run and 1-mile walk March 30. Registration will begin at 6:30 a.m. at Fox Seasonal Farms, and the run/walk will get started at 7:30 a.m. The entry fee is $25, which includes a T-shirt, and prizes will be awarded in each category.
The group asks that you pre-register for the event by March 11, which can be done on their Facebook page at BrokenBowMopsBunnyHop.

Little Feet, Big Dreams fundraisers coming up

Rapid progress is being made on the new North Park elementary school, and the Little Feet, Big Dreams Campaign is in full swing to raise the funding required for the pieces of the project not covered by the bond.
In the coming weeks, three fundraising projects are planned to give people the opportunity to help. And what a variety of projects they are!

Former BBPS teacher murdered

A former Broken Bow music teacher was found shot to death in San Antonio, Texas - apparently the victim of a murder suicide.
Deanna Tiller, 50, was working as an elementary music teacher in San Antonio at the time of her death. According to the Broken Bow Public Schools Superintendent’s Office, Tiller had been hired by this district in August 2007, and served as grades 6-12 choir teacher until May 2008. She had also previously taught and lived in Loup City.

Sterling Atkins remembered at sale

Anselmo--Sterling Atkins, a 2012 graduate of Broken Bow High School, recently passed away while attending college in Chadron. He was remembered yesterday (Wednesday) at the Lonesome River Ranch’s annual production sale.
