White arraigned on manslaughter charge

An April 2013 accident east of Broken Bow that left one Sargent man dead now has another Sargent man facing manslaughter charges.
Joseph White, 26 of Sargent/Burwell, was arraigned in Custer County Court Monday morning on one charge of manslaughter, a Class III felony. White waived his right to a preliminary hearing and was bound over to District Court. He will be arraigned in Custer County District Court Sept. 26 at 9:30 a.m.

Outdoor tennis courts get a facelift

The outdoor tennis courts at Tomahawk Park have received a face lift - thanks in part to a generous donation from a local citizen.
At a council meeting in May in which discussion ensued on the scope of the project to refurbish the tennis courts, Dr. Lance Jones gave more than his two cents worth on the project - in fact, he felt so strongly about the importance of preserving the three outdoor courts that he donated $5,000 of his own money to the city to do it.
