Sharon Hershman, 73, of Parkston, SD and Broken Bow, passed away Feb. 16, 2013, at Jennie Melham Memorial Hospital in Broken Bow.
Sharon was born Jan. 26, 1940, in Parkston, SD, to John and Frances Fergen. She was a graduate of Klamath Falls High School in Oregon. She was married to the late Paul D. Hershman in Mitchell, SD and lived in Mitchell, SD, Norfolk, and Parkston, SD before her last move to Broken Bow in August 2012.
Doris H. (Helen) Bayne, age 87, passed away at her home in Broken Bow Feb. 15, 2013 with family at her bedside.
Doris was born to Harry and Eva (Towers) Cohn in their home south of Maxwell Nov. 28, 1925. After getting most of her school education in the Maxwell area schools she moved to North Platte for her senior year and graduated from North Platte High School in 1943. She worked at W. J. O'Connor Dime store until she married Harold Bayne.
Shortly after marrying they moved to Hazard, the first of several moves to various towns in Nebraska before finally settling in Broken Bow.

LINCOLN – Law enforcement officers could seize mistreated livestock with a veterinarian’s recommendation if an Agriculture Committee bill is passed.
Rick Leonard, the committee’s research analyst, presented the bill (LB423) at a hearing Tuesday. Six people testified in support of the bill, and one testified against it. The committee also received a letter of support from the Humane Society of the United States.
June Mehal, 90, of Pompano Beach, Fla., passed away Feb. 2, 2013, in Bradenton, Fla, where she had been a resident for the past year at the Summerfield Assisted Living Home.

Sometime between 10:30 P.M. and 10:45 P.M., Thursday, Feb. 14, the Frontier Inn located in Halsey sustained damage from gunshots. At the time the shots were fired the building was occupied but no one was injured. The Nebraska State Patrol is seeking any information from the public that might lead to the arrest of the person or persons involved in this incident.
