A Broken Bow Police Department drug investigation led to the arrest of Broken Bow resident, Eric J. Allen, 33, after the Police Service K-9 gave a positive indication that a package addressed to Allen contained narcotics, according to Chief Steve Scott.
Allen was arrested and booked into jail for Possession of Methamphetamine Tuesday, April 30. After obtaining a search warrant for the home that Allen shares with Andrea L. Akins, 40, officers also cited Akins for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
South Loup and Sandhills/Thedford played in the Hershey Invite. South Loup shot a 369 while Sandhills/Thedford shot a 370.

The SWC golf meet has been moved from Ogallala to Cozad due to weather conditions. The meet is set to starts at 10 am.
South Loup, Anselmo-Merna, Mullen and Sandhills/Thedford competed in the Best of the Midwest meet Tuesday night In Sutherland.
On the girls side, Mullen finished 8th, South Loup 16th, Anselmo-Merna 15th and Sandhills/Thedford 23rd. On the boys side, South Loup took 3rd, Anselmo-Merna placed 19th, Mullen placed 23rd and Sandhills/Thedford finished 25th. Event results are listed with area participants in them and placing in the top six. The girls will be followed by the boys.

A tragic accident took the life of Joe A. Willhoit, 58, of North Platte Tuesday evening on State Highway 70 just east of Westerville.
According to Deb Collins of the Nebraska State Patrol, a 1991 Chrysler LeBaron driven by Joseph White, 25, of Sargent was traveling east on Highway 70 when the vehicle ran into the back end of a tractor driven by Willhoit shortly before 7:30 p.m.

The National Day of Prayer local event is sponsored by the Broken Bow Ministerial Association, and is open to anyone of any denomination.
CALLAWAY - - Until a few months ago, Callaway sophomore Bailey Mach was an active high school athlete. She played basketball, and last spring ran the mile for her track team.
In February, Bailey began experiencing weakness in her legs and pain in her feet. She had suffered a concussion in a basketball game in January and doctors thought her symptoms were related to the migraine she endured for several days after her concussion.
Custer County Sheriff Dan Osmond has been recognized by his peers for a job well done.
During a special reception April 18 at the Jail Standards Convention, Osmond was presented with the âExcellence in Detention Facility Administrationâ award, one of only two given each year by Nebraskaâs Jail Standards Board across the entire state of Nebraska.
Nominations for the award are made by either the personâs boss or employees and then voted on by members of the board.
Aaron and Emilea (Flesner) Sell of Arcadia, would like to announce the birth of their daughter, Lauryn Elizabeth Sell.
Lauryn arrived at 10:14 a.m. Monday, April 1, 2013, at Jennie Melham Memorial Medical Center in Broken Bow. She weighed 8 pounds 2 1/4 ounces and was 20 inches long.
Proud grandparents are Don Flesner of Red Cloud, and Marty and Lisa Sell of Arcadia. Proud great-grandparents are Leah Johnson of Hastings, Christine Flesner of Clay Center, Ralph and April Bose and Alberta and Carl Mendyk all of Arcadia.
