LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) â€” Nearly 50 members of the Nebraska Air National Guard soon will leave for six months of duty in the Middle East.
A private goodbye ceremony is set for Monday at the Nebraska National Guard's headquarters in Lincoln.
The Lincoln-based airmen are members of the 155th Security Forces Squadron, the 155th Force Support Squadron and the 155th Civil Engineer Squadron.
The National Guard says members from the 155th Operations Group will leave for a one-month mission a few days after Monday's ceremony.
Darlene G.Warner, 90, of Lexington, passed away Sunday, Dec. 21, 2014, at her home in Lexington.Â
Darlene was born April 17, 1924, in Oconto, to Larry and Susie (Wells) Beck. She grew up in Oconto and was a 1942 graduateof Oconto High School.Â
She marriedArnold Duschanek and three children were born to this marriage; Barry, Diann and Dennis. The marriage later ended in divorce.Â
Darrel Dean Dudley, of Florence, Mont., died peacefully Monday, Dec. 15, 2014, after a long fight with cancer. He was born Aug. 10, 1938, in Litchfield, to the late Duane and Myrtle Dudley.
September 8, 1973, he married Patricia Kemper and she survives him. Also surviving him is his daughter, Crystal and her husband, Jim Wood; his daughter, Amber and her husband, Kevin Hernandez; his grandson, Chandler Dudley; his siblings, Joanne Wilson and Glen Dudley; and many other loved ones, long-time friends, and family members.
Gerald E. Pierson, 86, of Arcadia passed away Friday, Dec. 19, 2014, at the Rose Lane Home in Loup City.
Funeral Services were Monday, Dec. 22, 2014, at the Arcadia United Methodist Church. The Reverend Dr. Jeff D. Hale officiated. Burial was in the Arcadia Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Arcadia Rescue Unit or the Gathering Place.
Ord Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
December 15, 2014, Bertini Joyner Talbot passed away peacefully at Heritage Hall at JMMC where she had lived for the past five years. Those who knew her know firsthand how loving, kind and gracious she was, and she will be sorely missed by so very many people. Her love and grace made her one of a kind and she can now be at peace with her Savior.
Bertini was born April 12, 1909, to parents, Grove Ortello Joyner and Rosella Fodge Joyner in the family home just north of North Park School. She was educated in the Broken Bow school system and also studied at the University of Nebraska.
Berl Klitzman son of Wilbur and Margretta (McClellen) Klitzman was born at home in Ansley, (delivered by his grandmother, Sarah (Eggleston) Klitzman) Aug. 28, 1927.
Berl grew up in Ansley, attending school there and in 1944 began a lifetime of work on the railroad. He worked the area of Alliance to Hazard for 44 years. Berl worked for CB&Q (Chicago Burlington and Quincy) railroad in 1944. CB&Q changed in the 1960â€™s to Burlington Northern. Burlington Northern merged with Santa Fe Railroad in 1989. Berl retired after the merger.
Michael Flynn, age 57, of Blue Hill, died Thursday Dec. 11, 2014, peacefully at his home surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2014, at the United Methodist Church in Broken Bow with the Rev. Todd Karges officiating.
Burial was in the Broken Bow Cemetery with Govier Brothers Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
Eugene Franklin Thomas, formerly of the Westerville area, passed from this life in Broken Bow, Dec. 9, at the age of 91.
Born March 13, 1923, to Otho Ohio and Cennie (Christen) Thomas, Eugene spent his younger years in the Dale Valley area near Merna, on the family ranch. He attended elementary school at Dale and graduated from Merna High School.
As a young man, he asked a friend to introduce him to a pretty young school teacher, Ruby Darlene McEwen; and on Jan. 12, 1946, they were married in Phillipsburg, Kan.
Wanda N. Jones, age 74 of Lincoln, died Wednesday Dec. 3, 2014.
Born in Broken Bow to Clifford and Waneta (Pritchard) Martin.
Wanda retired from GMAC after 32 years and was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church.
She loved every moment that she got to spend with her grandchildren and she enjoyed looking after her rose garden.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and step-father, Dr. Boyd Crable.
She is survived by her husband, Don; sons Jeff (Marlys), and Mike (Tracy); grandchildren, Sean, Sam and Max; her great-grandson; and sister, Shirley (Cecil) Mattox.
