Beatta P. Jameson, 83

November 20, 2014

Beatta P. Jameson, 83 of Greeley, Colo., passed away Thursday, Nov. 6, 2014, at the Fairacres Manor Nursing Home in Greeley.

She was born April 1, 1931, in Ravenna, to August W. and Percilla (Fisher) Hauser.

Beatta married Edgar Ralph Jameson in 1948 in Thedford. He preceded her in death on July 13, 2007. She attended the Glad Tidings Assembly of God in Greeley for many years.

Survivors include her daughter, Kathrine Hunter; two sons, John and Ralph Jameson; a brother, Burdell Hauser; a sister, Gwendola Palmer; nine grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Martha Lee Sutton, 85

Martha Lee Sutton, 85, of Sargent, died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014, at Burwell.

Services for Bobby, who died Oct. 18, 2014, and Martha Lee Sutton were Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014. at the United Methodist Church in Sargent, with Pastors Cliff Reynolds and Marvin Bauer officiating. Burial was at the West Union Cemetery, west of Sargent.

Rhoad Funeral Home of Sargent, was in charge of arrangements.

Wesley "Wes" Raymond Minnema, 54

Wesley “Wes” Raymond Minnema, 54, of Hastings, passed away suddenly on Monday, November 3, 2014 at CHI Health St. Francis in Grand Island.

Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, November 8, 2014 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Broken Bow, Nebraska. Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island is in charge of arrangements.

Jerry W. Dunn, 81

November 20, 2014

Jerry W Dunn, 81, of Fort Collins, Colo., passed away Nov. 4, 2014, at Rehab and Nursing Center of the Rockies.

Funeral services were Nov. 11, 2014, at the Timberline Church, 2908 South Timberline Rd, Fort Collins, Colo.

Arrangements are by Vessey Funeral Services of Fort Collins, Colo. 

Jerry was born at Purdum, to Percy and Ethel (Warren) Dunn Oct. 9,1933.  He went to school at Purdum and graduated from Broken Bow. 

He married Mary L. Strunk June 30, 1954, in Thedford.

Joseph Fancis Coyle, Jr., 81

Dr. Joseph Francis Coyle Jr., age 81 of Gothenburg, passed away Saturday, November 8, 2014.

Joseph was born in Kansas City Aug. 21, 1933, to Joseph F. and Mary A. (Ronayne) Coyle, Sr. He graduated from De La Salle Academy and then attended St. Mary’s College in Winona, Minn., for one year. He finished his undergraduate work at Kansas State University and was accepted to the College of Veterinary Medicine, where he graduated in 1957.

Norma Jeannine Ellingson, 85

Hastings resident Norma J. Ellingson, 85, passed away Friday, Oct. 31, 2014, at Perkins Pavilion, Good Samaritan Village in Hastings.

Services were Nov. 6, 2014, at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow with Pastor George Kilmer officiating. Burial was in the Broken Bow Cemetery.

Norma was born Aug. 20, 1929, in Merna, to Floyd Achilles and Anna Opal (Small) Johnson. She graduated from the Merna High School Class of 1947. Her extra curricular activities all centered on music and she loved to sing.

She was baptized on May 23, 1950 in her parents’ home at Merna.

Miami QB Ryan Tannehill threw 2 second half touchdowns to rally a comeback victory over Buffalo. Buffalo was moving the ball up and down the field early, but could not seem to find the end zone to cap drivers. They clung to a 9-3 lead as they kept Miami in check. Tannehill was able to rally his team’s offense to score 19 unanswered points to seal the game and second place in the AFC East.

A-M Coyotes win spot at state football finals

Congrats to Anselmo-Merna for a spectacular Monday win (56-36) in their state playoff Class D2 semi-final game against Maxwell. The Coyotes head to state Monday where they will take on Exeter-Milligan. The two, number one seed teams meet at 10:15 a.m. Nov. 24 on Tom Osborne Field at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln.

Pelini seeks answers after another Nebraska tumble

Shortly after watching Wisconsin's Melvin Gordon run through his charges in record-setting fashion, Nebraska defensive coordinator John Papuchis issued the challenge for this week.

"A lot of who we are as a program, coaches and players, is going to be revealed when we play against Minnesota," Papuchis said in Madison, Wisconsin.

It's going to be a rough few days for those players and coaches before kickoff against the Gophers.

Nebraska hospital: Surgeon with Ebola has died

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — A surgeon who contracted Ebola in his native Sierra Leone died Monday while being treated in a biocontainment unit at a Nebraska hospital, the facility said.

Dr. Martin Salia died of the disease shortly after 4 a.m., Nebraska Medical Center spokesman Taylor Wilson said.

"Dr. Salia was extremely critical when he arrived here, and unfortunately, despite our best efforts, we weren't able to save him," said Dr. Phil Smith, medical director of the biocontainment unit.
