The Broken Bow City Council approved a motion on Tuesday to allow the use of TIF funding to begin construction on a new hotel. The Cobblestone Hotel and Suites will provide 36 rooms and be located on west Highway 2, east of Trotters.
The proposed plan will include an indoor pool and hot tub, along with a convention center that will accomodate approximately 500 people.

Members of the Broken Bow High School band percussion department will perform a special number on trash cans as part of the Variety Show tonight, March 11. The event is a fundraiser for the Little Feet, Big Dreams campaign and will begin at 7 p.m. in the Middle School Auditorium. The 28th Annual Family Banquet, hosted by the Arcadia United Methodist Men, has been scheduled for Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 7 p.m. in the Arcadia School Gym. The featured speaker for this yearâs banquet will be Mr. Tanner Fruit.
Tanner is a native of Ogallala, and is currently a senior at the University of Nebraska -Kearney majoring in Exercise Science. During high school, Tanner helped lead his school to the State Class B cross country title as a senior.

The Broken Bow Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) invites everyone to hop along the trail with them Easter weekend.
The group is hosting a fundraiser âBunny Hopâ 5K fun run and 1-mile walk March 30. Registration will begin at 6:30 a.m. at Fox Seasonal Farms, and the run/walk will get started at 7:30 a.m. The entry fee is $25, which includes a T-shirt, and prizes will be awarded in each category.
The group asks that you pre-register for the event by March 11, which can be done on their Facebook page at BrokenBowMopsBunnyHop.

Rapid progress is being made on the new North Park elementary school, and the Little Feet, Big Dreams Campaign is in full swing to raise the funding required for the pieces of the project not covered by the bond.
In the coming weeks, three fundraising projects are planned to give people the opportunity to help. And what a variety of projects they are!

A former Broken Bow music teacher was found shot to death in San Antonio, Texas - apparently the victim of a murder suicide.
Deanna Tiller, 50, was working as an elementary music teacher in San Antonio at the time of her death. According to the Broken Bow Public Schools Superintendentâs Office, Tiller had been hired by this district in August 2007, and served as grades 6-12 choir teacher until May 2008. She had also previously taught and lived in Loup City.

Anselmo--Sterling Atkins, a 2012 graduate of Broken Bow High School, recently passed away while attending college in Chadron. He was remembered yesterday (Wednesday) at the Lonesome River Ranchâs annual production sale.

David Leroy Tucker, age 60 of Broken Bow, died March 4, 2013 at Jennie Melham Medical Center in Broken Bow. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Govier Brothers Mortuary with Jerry Ricketts officiating. Interment will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery, with Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow in charge of arrangements. Memorials are suggested to the family.
David Leroy Tucker was born Oct. 15, 1952, at LoupCity, to Marion Seth and Clarissa Joyce (Tvrs) Tucker.
Mardelle Corrine Ellisâs life was filled with many interests, but of them all, she especially enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren play sports, working in her flower gardens, and going to yard sales. While pursuing her interests, Mardelle made wonderful friends and memories that lasted a lifetime.
Donald Dean Schroder, 82, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2013, at Good Samaritan Health Care Center after a long battle with cancer.
He was born June 25, 1930, at Ft. Calhoun, to Herman K. and Hulda M. (Schmidt) Schroder. He was the youngest of four children. He grew up in the communities of Ft. Calhoun, Purdum and Broken Bow.
He married Iris M. Van Ostrand March 17, 1951, at Kearney. To this union six children were born.
