EVANSTON, Ill. (AP) — Justin Jackson got off to a fast start, and Northwestern looked ready to avenge its heartbreaking loss to Nebraska from a year ago.
Then Ameer Abdullah got going in the second half, and the Wildcats fell apart.
Northwestern managed just 28 yards in the final two quarters and Abdullah had three of his four 1-yard touchdown runs in the second half, helping the 19th-ranked Cornhuskers roll to a 38-17 victory on Saturday night.
LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Nebraska officials have launched a pilot program to keep more neglected children with their families, as long as steps can be taken to keep them safe.
The program gives parents a chance to avoid law enforcement and the courts if they are deemed a low risk to hurt their children.
EVANSTON, Ill. (AP) — The last time Nebraska played at Northwestern two years ago, so many Cornhuskers fans packed the stadium that the home team had to go to a silent count on offense.
Coach Bo Pelini wouldn't be shocked if a similar scenario unfolds again.
No. 19 Nebraska visits Northwestern in a game that matches two teams that played absolute thrillers the previous three years. They also are trying to keep pace in the Big Ten West race, and Pelini wouldn't be surprised if the Cornhuskers got another assist from their fans.
