Simply Sweet, located in the Arrow Mini Mall on Highway 2 in Broken Bow, opened for business Tuesday. The store features craft and gift items, along with the star of the store - chocolate!
Michele Staggs is the owner and operator of Simply Sweet. She and her husband, Ed, moved to Broken Bow in July 2012, living the previous two years in Denver.
The search for a new Broken Bow senior high/junior high principal is over. After narrowing down a field of nearly 30 applicants, a contract has been offered and accepted by Rusty Kluender.
Kluender (who will quickly tell you his name rhymes with blender) accepted the offer to become the 7-12 principal at Broken Bow last Wednesday. He will officially begin his duties here Aug. 1, 2013.
Amy Marie Seda and Brandon Lane Nansel were joined in marriage Sept. 15, 2012, at the United Methodist Church in Arnold. The Rev. Dale Coates officiated the ceremony.
Amy is the daughter of Roger and Sue Seda of Anselmo, and Brandon is the son of Brad and Connie Nansel of Arnold.
Serving as maids of honor were Delite Weinman and Megan Michaud. Alisha Eberle, Amber Ourada and Tosha Werkmeister were bridesmaids.
Best men were Bryce Nansel, brother of the groom, Brent Kulp, Justin Connor, Lindy Dailey and Bryce Kulp.
Danielle M. Harms and Aarin M. Fellows were married Aug. 18, 2012, at Lifehouse Church in Hastings, with Pastor Brett Mackey officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Dan and Kim Harms of Glenvil. She is a graduate from Sandy Creek High School and is currently in her senior year at Evangel University in Springfield, Mo. She will graduate in May 2013 with a degree in elementary education and Spanish.
Glenn L. Rohde, 79, life-long resident of Eddyville and Sumner, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at Callaway Good Life Center.
He was born March 9, 1933, the fifth child and third son of Ronald and Mayme (Anderson) Rohde in Eddyville. He graduated from Eddyville High School with the class of 1951, and went on to further his education at Kearney State Teacherâ€™s College, graduating in 1955.
Glenn was a 4-year letterman in football and track.
Evelyn Margaret (Smith) Fowler was born Sept. 6, 1917, near Nesbit, which was about nine miles west of Stapleton. She left the loving care at Rose Lane Home in Loup City, and departed this life Jan. 15, 2013, at 7:40 p.m. At that same moment she was welcomed by her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ into her new and eternal home.
She was greeted by her husband, John Mervin; her father and mother, Harry "Bud", Smith, Beatrice "Birdie" Echo (Heldenbrand) Smith; sister, Vera June (Smith) Miller; little brother, Charles Oscar Smith and a host of family and friends.
Karen Louise Wilcox, nÃ©e Nielsen, 69, of Virginia Beach, Virg., passed away peacefully Jan. 17, 2013, at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital. The cause of death was complications from a stroke.
Karen was born Jan. 19, 1943, in Aurora, to Emma Louise Nielsen and Oscar Frick Nielsen. As a child, Karen loved playing piano and organ, cooking, and fishing, and was an active member of the 4-H Club and Rainbow for Girls.
LINCOLN â€“ A lively discussion over gun and ammunition control legislation took place during a Judiciary Committee hearing of the Nebraska Legislature on Jan 23.â€¨Â Among the bills discussed was LB50, introduced by Sen. Brad Ashford of Omaha.
