DUNNING - The Mullen Lady Broncos took an early 14-6 lead and never looked back for the 61-47 win over Sandhills/ Thedford last Friday night.
Clara Vinton and Madi Tomlinson led he Lady Broncos with 15 points each followed by Mardee Sierks with 14 points and Rachel Hoesing with 9 rebounds.
Shelby Saner scored 21 points to lead the Lady Knights followed by Kadi McFadden with 9, Tylee Coffman 6, Jonnie Staub 5, Sarah Miles 3, Michaela Miles 2 and Kaitlin Marten 1.

The Broken Bow Public Schools Board of Education met in a special meeting Tuesday afternoon for the primary purpose of approving a new teacher contract.
The meeting had been postponed from Monday, due to the weather.
Jacob and Kammi Lange of Ord welcomed their new son into the world Sunday, Jan. 9, and Jennie Melham Memorial Medical Center in Broken Bow welcomed the first baby born at the facility in 2011.
Walker Clemens Lange arrived at 2:07 a.m. Sunday morning, weighing 8 pounds 5 1/2 ounces, and measuring 20 1/2 inches. He was due to arrive Jan. 15, but Kammi says all of her babies have come a little early.
“With the storm coming we were glad to get here when we did,” Kammi said.

A Broken Bow man was arrested Tuesday night after allegedly attempting to stab another man during a fight.
According to Broken Bow Police Chief Steve Scott, investigating officers responded to a call at 11:30 p.m. and found Ralph Willis III struggling with a man who was trying to get the knife away from Willis. The 38-year-old Willis was transported to Jennie Melham Memorial Medical Center with knife wounds to his hands.

A large winter storm system spun over the Northern and Central Rocky Mountains over the weekend, bringing heavy snows to much of the Central Plains. By the time the snow finally made its way out of the area Monday, nearly a foot of the white stuff was on the ground in much of central and north central Nebraska.
Elva May Vanek, age 85 of Sargent, died Jan. 7, 2011, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Funeral services were Jan. 12, 2011, at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow with the Rev. Mark Stones officiating. Burial will be at the West Lawn Memorial Cemetery and Mausoleum in Eugene, Ore.
Elva was born Feb. 27, 1925, in Sargent, to Noel and Minnie Amos. She attended school and graduated from Sargent High School in 1942.
Elva married Charles Vanek. Charles died in 1982. Elva enjoyed gardening, collecting dolls, and spending hours working in her yard.
Mack B. Horn, 85, of Oconto, died Friday, Dec. 31, 2010, at the Callaway Good Samaritan Care Center. Mack was born May 18, 1925, at Lomax to Homer and Nell (Brigham) Horn.
Mack grew up in the Oconto area and graduated from high school in 1942. He married Willa Mae Thomas in Oconto March 26, 1951.
Mack was a life-long area farmer and rancher for more than 60 years, with his wife Willie. Together they enjoyed the outdoors, living south of Pressey Park, always providing a line for anyone’s assistance. They traveled to many stock shows, rodeos and shared stories with their many friends.
Frances Trotter, age 67 of Broken Bow, died Dec. 30, 2010, at the Custer Care Center #2 in Broken Bow.
Memorial services were Jan. 4, 2011, at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow with Frances’ cousin, Steve Finney officiating. Burial was in the Broken Bow Cemetery with Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow in charge of the arrangements.
Frances Arlene Trotter was born April 11, 1943, at Broken Bow, to Herman and Ruby (Smith) Trotter. She was the second of six children.
Margery “Viola” Layher was born in Wolbach Dec. 21, 1915, to Edwin and Sarah Edith Layher. She lived in Greeley and Valley counties until 1929 when she moved to Broken Bow. She graduated from Broken Bow High School in 1933.
Viola was a school teacher for a few years after high school, then went to work for Bow Bakery decorating cakes. She then went to work for the Custer County Highway Department for 25 years as the office manager.
One of the bookkeeping systems Viola set up was used statewide. She was a wonderful seamstress and loved her God and family with all her heart.
Russell E. Moseley, age 88, of the Grand Island Veterans Home, formerly of Broken Bow, died Friday Jan. 7, 2011, at the Grand Island Veterans Home.
Funeral services were Jan. 11, 2011 at the United Methodist Church in Broken Bow with the Rev. Todd Karges officiating. Interment was at the Lone Tree Cemetery with Military Honors. Memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Church or the Grand Island Veterans Home. Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow was in charge of arrangements.
