Governor Pete Ricketts and Chief Justice Mike Heavican to attend ribbon cutting of Judicial Center in Broken Bow

Broken Bow, NE – On Thursday, October 29, 2015, Custer Campus individuals along with Governor Pete Ricketts and Chief Justice Mike Heavican will celebrate the completion of the Judicial Center in Broken Bow with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

The recently completed, 17,000-square-foot facility includes two courtrooms for County and District court, a hearing room, offices for the county attorney, probation officer, clerks of the court, and support staff.

Nebraska, Northwestern are trending in different directions

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Nebraska's game against Northwestern is all about mojo. The Cornhuskers are trying to build on theirs. The Wildcats are trying to get theirs back.

The winner Saturday will stay within striking distance of idle Iowa in the Big Ten West while the loser will set sights on bowl eligibility and a best possible postseason destination.

Nebraska prosecutors drop South Dakota midwife's case

BROKEN BOW, Neb. (AP) — Nebraska prosecutors have dropped their case involving an unlicensed midwife who was charged with manslaughter and other crimes in the 2011 death of a newborn.

Sixty-eight-year-old Judy Jones, of Irene, South Dakota, also was charged with practicing without a license and criminal impersonation. Authorities say Jones helped deliver a baby in a rural Custer County home in September 2011, defying orders prohibiting her from practicing as a midwife in Nebraska and South Dakota. The infant died shortly after birth.

Listings include name of school, season record, previous week's ranking, previous week's result and this week's opponent. The rankings are based on a formula that includes ratings from the Omaha World-Herald and Lincoln Journal Star plus experts for each class. Class A: Dale Miller, Grand Island Independent. Class B: Jeff Fielder, Scottsbluff Star-Herald. Class C1: Tom Behmer, Norfolk Daily News. Class C2: Brent Wasinius, Fremont Tribune. Class D1: Andrew Bottrell, North Platte Telegraph.
