Orville "Wayne" Williams, 83, of Broken Bow, died Tuesday, July 31, 2012 in Grand Island.
Services were Saturday, Aug. 4, at Govier Brothers Mortuary Chapel in Broken Bow with R.P. Smith officiating. Burial was at the Broken Bow Cemetery.
He was born March 13, 1929, the oldest child of Harry and Bonnie Williams at his grandparents' home, Homer and Lena Fair, in Broken Bow.
He graduated from Broken Bow High School in 1946. October 28, 1949, he married Roberta Mae Manning at Martin, S.D. The couple had four children: Sheila Marie, James Ray, Justin Roy and Echo Kay.
Rolan D. Jensen, 87, of Mason City, died Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Graveside Service will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, at the Basin Cemetery south of Mason City. Memorial Service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Faith Lutheran Church in Hazard. The Rev. Dean Hanson will officiate. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the church. Rasmussen Funeral Home in Ravenna is in charge of arrangements.
Robert Sweley, 84, of Litchfield, died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Graveside Services were Monday, Aug. 6, at the Litchfield Cemetery in Litchfield with the Rev. George Reitz officiating. Rasmussen Funeral Home in Ravenna was in charge of arrangements.
Gary E. Henning, 61 of Kearney, died Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney after a battle with cancer. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m., Friday, Aug. 10, at First Lutheran Church in Kearney. The Rev. Eric Lesher and the Rev. Rebecca McDermott will officiate. Interment will be in the Kearney Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8pm, Thursday at O'Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney.
Paul David Yamamoto, 51, of Lincoln, died Aug. 1, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer. Paul was born in Alliance, June 7, 1961 to the Rev. Jack and Mildred (Rice) Yamamoto, Paul was the fourth of five children and their only son.
He grew up in Broken Bow and later McCook, where he graduated from high school in 1979.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Millie Yamamoto, both sets of grandparents, and his beloved dog, Annie.
Broc Neale Tucker was born Sunday, June 10, 2012, at 2:27 p.m. at Jennie Melham Memorial Medical Center in Broken Bow. Broc weighed 7 pounds 6 ounces and was 20 inches long.
Proud parents are Derrick and Megan Tucker of Merna. Proud grandparents are Janene and Tony Kolbet of Campbell, Yvonne Tucker of Merna, Dave Tucker of Broken Bow, and Mark Thurston of Hastings.
Great-grandparents are Joe and Nadine Rutt of Campbell, and the late Willda and Junior Diefenbaugh, and the late Joyce and Marion Tucker.
Mr. and Mrs. Chris Dimmitt of Lincoln announce the birth of their son, Nathan Dimmit, born July 12, 2012. He weighed 7 pounds 11 ounces, and measured 20 1/2 inches. Grandparents are Mary Jo Hendricks of Lincoln, and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Dimmitt of Yankton, S.D. Great-grandmother is Bernice Miller of Broken Bow.
Adam Emerton and Staci Cherry, both of LaVista, announce their engagement and upcoming marriage.
Parents of the couple are Max and Debbie Emerton of Taylor, and John and Lynne Cherry of North Platte.
The bride-to-be is a graduate of North Platte High School and received a bachelor of arts degree in psychology from Nebraska Wesleyan University. She will receive an education specialist degree in school psychology from the University of Nebraska Omaha in 2013.
Dana Bartel and Jon Whitlock happily announce their engagement and upcoming wedding. Parents of the future bride are Kina and Brad Brockley, and Patrick and Ester Bartel. Dana is employed by Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Ill., as a certified occupational therapy assistant. Jon is a Walmart CSM at Decator, Ill.
The couple is planning a fall wedding for October in Springfield, Ill., where they will make their home.
One building in downtown Omaha has been given a facelift, and an entire neighborhood a burst of color, thanks to the artistic talents of a Custer County native.
Craig Lee was born in Broken Bow in 1959, to Donald and Roberta Lee of Ansley, long-time owners of Lee's Variety Store on Ansley's Main Street. He is the youngest of four children and attended Ansley Public School, graduating with the class of 1978.
