Bernie D. Andersen, 40 of Thedford, died at his home Wednesday, July 13, 2011.
He graduated from the Thedford High School in 1989. Bernie then remained at home in the loving care of his family and caregivers, Tegwin Egle, Dawn Haake and Ginny Hardy.
Bernie is survived by his parents, Allen and Diane; brother, Chad and wife Marcy; niece, Jessie and nephew Dylan, all of Thedford; grandparents, Phyllis Figard of Thedford, Dwayne and Nadene Andersen of Seneca; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandpa Bob Figard, and uncle Lowell Andersen.
John Sullivan, age 87 of Broken Bow, died Wednesday, July 13, 2011, at the Jennie Melham Medical Center in Broken Bow.
Funeral services were July 16, in the United Methodist Church in Broken Bow with the Rev. Glen Emert officiating. Burial was in the Broken Bow Cemetery with Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow in charge of the arrangements. Mortuary. Memorials have been established to United Methodist Church in Broken Bow or the American Red Cross Bloodmobile.
BROKEN BOW--This past weekend the Broken Bow Cosmos Swim Team hosted their annual swim meet. It also marked the end of an age. The swim meet was the last 50-meter competition to take place in Broken Bow. The new pool thatâ€™s slated to open next summer is 25 meters in length.
There was a strong showing from the swimmers that swam for the final time in the only pool theyâ€™ve known.
Blake Denson placed first in the Male 8 and under 100-meter freestyle and was runner-up in the 50 meter freestyle and 200 meter freestyle.
McCOOK--The Broken Bow Junior Baseball team saw their 2011 season come to an end at the B- 6 Area Tournament in McCook this past Saturday.
Roberta Mae â€śBobbieâ€ť (Manning) Williams, 79, of Broken Bow, died Friday, July 15, 2011 at the Golden Living Center in Broken Bow.
Services will be Tuesday, July 19, at Govier Brothers Mortuary Chapel in Broken Bow with the Rev. David Harder officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Govier Brothers with family present from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Burial will be at the Broken Bow Cemetery.
The Custer County Foundation reviewed grant requests for the period ending April 30, 2011 and is awarding a total of $17,800.00 to Custer County organizations.

Mabel B. Ellingson, age 81 of Broken Bow, died July 9, 2011, at the Jennie Melham Medical Center. Funeral services were Friday July 15, 2011, at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow with Minister Kathy Salts officiating. Interment will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated later.
Mabel was born March 2, 1930, at Merna, to Everett and Viola (Sells) Mattox. She received her education at Broken Bow Schools.
Gerrit Hamblin, 87, longtime Broken Bow educator, entered his eternal rest June 21, 2011, at the Melham Medical Center. Funeral services were June 24, at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow with the Rev. Henry Duerksen officiating. Interment was in the Broken Bow Cemetery.
Gerrit Arthur Hamblin was bom May 15, 1924, in Sioux City, Iowa to Miles and Nell Hamblin. He was the youngest child born into a family of three sisters. Gerrit graduated from high school at the "Castle on the Hill (Sioux City H.S.)
J.D. Gibson, age 89 of Broken Bow, died Saturday, July 9, 2011, at his home in Broken Bow.
Funeral services were Wednesday, July 13, in the United Methodist Church in Broken Bow with the Rev. Lila Picton and the Rev. Corey Jenkins officiating. Burial was in the Broken Bow Cemetery with Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow in charge of arrangements. Memorials have been established to the Broken Bow United Methodist Church.
Kimberly Jean Grubtill, age 44, was born Dec. 11, 1966, to Nancy Leonard and Edward Furasek in Omaha. She died June 23, 2011, at Broken Bow.
Kimberly was employed by Custer Care Center in Broken Bow until unable to work.
She graduated from Omaha Bensen High School in 1985. She lived in Hill City, S.D. for 12 years, and in Broken Bow since 2007.
Kim is survived by her husband, Jeff; two sons, Matthew and Noah; sisters, Shelli Joshepson, Rhonda, Sherry and Robyn; and brothers, Ronie and Bernie.
