Julie Ann Smith, age 53, of Broken Bow, passed away Monday, Sept. 8, 2014.
She was preceded in death by her step-father, Gary Bubak.
She is survived by her daughter, Annie (Jeremy) Newman; granddaughter, Abigail Newman; mother, Margaret Bubak; father, Kenny (Judy) Maughan; brothers, Curtis Maughan, Teddy Bubak, and Travis Bubak; sister, Kimberly Clark; step-brothers, Rick Bubak and Mike Bubak.

Margaret L. Sells, 93, former resident, passed away Thursday, Sept. 11, 2014, at her home in Carlsbad, N.M.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2014, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel, Carlsbad, N.M. 88220 with the Rev. David W. Rogers officiating.
Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, N.M.

Margaret L. Sells was born July 8, 1921, in Mason City, to Clarence Cecil and Lura Gertrude (Rumery) Ryman. She married Woodrow â€śWoodyâ€ť H. Sells Dec. 16, 1941, in Merna. They were married 70 years.
Marvin Grant Reckling, 88, was born in Comstock, Aug. 16, 1925, the oldest child of William Frederick and Ella Gladys (nee Carnine) Reckling.
He was active in sports in the Comstock High School Class of 1944. Ida Darlene Hohman became his bride Feb. 16, 1947, in Broken Bow. They had been married 37 years when she died in a plane crash May 27, 1984.
Alma Cherry was born April 28, 1925, to Tom Cherry and Cora Rominger-Cherry in Sartoria.
Alma started her spiritual journey Sept. 10, 2014, in Broken Bow.
Merle Cherry, 100, of Litchfield died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014, at her home near Litchfield.
Services were Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2014, at the Litchfield Christian Church in Litchfield. The Rev. Ken Woolery and Greg Swinney officiated. Burial was in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery south of Litchfield.

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (AP) â€” Several Nebraska U.S. Senate hopefuls took shots at Republican frontrunner Ben Sasse during a final pre-election debate that focused heavily on guns, immigration and free trade.
The debate in North Platte highlighted sharp differences between Sasse and Democratic nominee Dave Domina, while allowing the two independent candidates equal time to make their cases.

Lillian Kingston , 90 of Kearney, formerly of Arcadia, died Aug.31, 2014, at St. Johnâ€™s Care Home in Kearney.
Funeral services were Sept. 5, in the United Methodist Church in Arcadia with Pastor Jeff Hale officiating. Burial was in the Lee Park Cemetery West of Arcadia.

Kenneth W. Cooley, 90, passed away Aug. 30, 2014, at Rivermont Gardens, Norman, Okla.
Kenneth W. Cooley was born Aug.25, 1924, on a farm south of Berwyn, near Cumro. The second child of John W. and Avis Uhlman Cooley, Kenneth attended grade schools at Sargent Valley, Round Valley, Clear Creek, and Rye Valley, Custer County. He attended high school at Round Valley and Triumph, and graduated from Callaway High School in 1942.
Lyle Joseph Mattox, age 80, of Broken Bow, died Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014, at the Golden LivingCenter in Broken Bow.
Funeral services were Sept. 10, 2014, in Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow with Pastor Larry DeMoss officiating.
Burial was at the Broken Bow Cemetery with Military Honors.
Lyle was born May 13, 1934, in Broken Bow, to Everett and Viola (Sells) Mattox. Lyle attended Broken Bow Schools and graduated from Broken Bow High School in 1952. He was actively enlisted in the United States Army from Sept. 10,1954, to Aug. 31, 1956.
