Dwayne Andersen age 92 of Seneca died March 9, 2014, at the Centennial Park Retirement Home in North Platte.
Funeral services were conducted March 14, 2014, at the Seneca Auditorium in Seneca, Neb., with the Rev. Sunny Ridings officiating. The family greeted friends the evening before. at the Seneca Auditorium. Memorials are suggested to the Thedford American Legion or the United Church of Christ at Seneca. Interment was in in the Seneca Cemetery.
Albert Hoesel, 77, of Callaway, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at Callaway District Hospital after a hard fought battle with acute myeloid
leukemia. He was born April 16, 1936, southeast of Callaway, to Fred and Ada
Albert attended country
school and graduated from Callaway High School with the class of 1954.
Albert was united in marriage to Louise Schaeffer Jan. 3, 1956. They were the parents of five children; Mike and wife Lori Hoesel of Gothenburg,
Tom and wife Jodi Hoesel of Callaway, Diane and husband Dale Seelhoff
Richard A. (Dick) Nelson, 83 of Ansley, died Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at Bryan LGH Hospital in Lincoln, surrounded by his family, after a month long battle with pneumonia. Dick was born July 23, 1930, in the Algernon township near Mason City, to Ernest E. and Blanche A. (Thorn) Nelson.
Lino Herman Peace, 74, of Grand Island died March 4, 2014, at his home.
Mass of Christian Burial was Saturday, March 8, at Saint Mary's Cathedral in Grand Island with Father Richard Piontkowski officiating. Burial was Saturday afternoon in the Dale Valley Cemetery at Merna. All Faiths Funeral Home of Grand Island was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Peace was born June 17, 1939, in Broken Bow to Herman and Julia May
Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Barbara; one daughter,
Debra Jones of Grand Island; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Terry and
Charles Leonard Minton, 70, died March 4, 2014, at his home in Merna. Chuck was born Aug. 8, 1943, at Anderson, Ind., to Leonard A. and Dorothy E. Minton.
Chuck went to school in Indiana and California and then joined and served in the Army from 1962-1965. After living in Indiana and California he later moved to Las Vegas in 1970.
Chuck marrried Brenda Lindner May 8, 1979, in Las Vegas. To this union two sons were born; Martin Leonard and Michael Lee. Chuck and Brenda later moved to Indian Springs, Nev., where Chuck became a DOD police officer.
Kenneth Arnold Ferguson, 92, passed away at the Grand Island Veterans Hospital Feb. 3, 2014. Kenneth was born April 27, 1921, at the Ferguson old home place 11 miles east of Brewster in Blaine County, to Robert and Viola Ferguson. Kenneth attended grade school in Pleasant Valley and graduated from Brewster High School in 1938.
Walter E. Bumgarner of Arcadia, died March 2, 2014, at Independence Hall in Broken Bow. He was born Oct. 27, 1914, to Elton M. and Fanny I. (Linden-struth) Bumgarner on the family's farm in Webster County, Mo.
In June 1951, Walter met Josephine Fells in Arcadia, and they were married Dec. 22 of that year.
Walter was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; all his brothers and sisters; two brothers-in-law and their spouses; and a sister-in-law and her spouse.
Brenda Cestia, born Aug. 22, 1955, in David City, passed away March 1, 2014, in Highlands Ranch, Colo. Brenda is survived by her parents, William and Marilyn Peters; her husband of 33 years, John Cestia; her daughter, Amy; son, Michael; and her brother, Steve (Kathleen) Peters. Brenda attended grade school and junior high in Columbus, then moved to Broken Bow, where she graduated high school. Services for Brenda will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Brendaâ€™s name to St.
In conjunction with National Severe Weather Awareness Week, the National Weather Service will be conducting a state-wide tornado test tomorrow (March 26).
1. Two *TEST* Tornado Watches will be issued Wednesday, March 26,at approximately 10am CDT. One ** TEST** Tornado Watch will be issued for the entire state of Iowa, and another **TEST** Tornado Watch will cover all of Nebraska. These test watches will be issued in support of Severe Weather Awareness activities and will remain in effect for about 1 hour, until 11am CDT, Wednesday, March 26, 2014.
