The power of positive thinking and boldly taking risks while running toward your dreams was the message that met more than 70 high school juniors and seniors from seven area schools Nov. 14, during the 2012 Central Nebraska Technical Career Day. The event is spearheaded by the Custer Economic Development Corporation and supported in multiple capacities by twenty local businesses.

School board selects project details

Construction on the North Park school building project is progressing ahead of schedule, and while that is a good thing for the project it also means the school board has to make some decisions a little earlier than anticipated.
At the Monday meeting of the Broken Bow Board of Education, three motions for construction options were slated for discussion and action. The first of those involves the type of siding to be used on the exterior of the building.

Giving season is here

The giving season has arrived. So as you dust off your ornaments, unpack the snowmen and scurry through your day, take a moment to remember the little ones.
Thanksgiving official kicks off the fund-drive for the Children’s Christmas Fund. Last year, working in partnership, the Broken Bow Does, the Custer County Chief, the Children’s Christmas Fund Board of Directors, and you, through the generosity of your giving, the Children’s Christmas Fund helped make the holiday season a little brighter for 519 children and their families.

Saner arraigned on five felonies

Nicholas Saner, 31 of Broken Bow, was arraigned in Custer County District Court Nov. 8 on five felony charges, stemming from a Sept. 8, 2012 incident involving a Broken Bow woman.
According to the complaint, Broken Bow police were called to a residence on South 13th Avenue in Broken Bow Sept. 8, 2012, at about 2:35 a.m. after receiving a call that someone was threatening to burn down the house. Officers picked up Saner immediately upon arriving at the scene.
Saner has been charged with the following:
Count 1 - criminal attempt, sexual assault, Class III felony
