Here in the newspaper business we have a saying - â€śeverybody has a story.â€ť Broken Bow native Betty Akin has lots of stories, and is ready to tell them.
Becoming an author was not something Betty had ever really thought about. After graduating from Broken Bow High School, Betty went off to Queen Anneâ€™s School of Cosmetology in Kearney with some of her classmates, pursuing the dream of being a hairdresser.
After graduating from cosmetology school, Betty married a rancher and moved to the Brewster area. Word of the new â€śprofessionalâ€ť in the area traveled fast.
It was a full docket of criminal cases as Custer County District Court convened Dec. 20, under Judge Karin Noakes.
Zachary R. Martinez, 18 of Broken Bow, appeared for arraignment in two separate cases. In his first case, Martinez is charged with : count 1 - first degree false imprisonment; count 2 - terroristic threats; count 3 - criminal attempt, distribution of a controlled substance.
