June 23, 2012

Vern and Velma Oatman were honored Friday evening at the State High School Rodeo in Hastings with a rodeo ‘Lifetime Achievement Award.” As part of the presentation, Bill Manning, the president of the Mid-States Rodeo Association, said that the Oatmans have done more to promote and support High School Rodeo than anyone he knew. Vern in his remarks accepting the award said that they have a 2-year-old great-grandchild, so they would be around a few years longer.
