LINCOLN â€“ In a special meeting of the Nebraska School Activities Association Board of Directors on Friday, July 17, the Board voted to hire Dr. Jim Tenopir to serve as interim NSAA Executive Director.
LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) â€” Nebraska's natural resources districts have planted 95 million trees since they were created in 1972.
The Nebraska Association of Resources Districts says the districts have planted more than 800,000 so far this year. Most were planted on private property to help conserve and protect land.
LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) â€” Nebraska lawmakers are once again looking to lower property taxes, but this time they're turning to the single largest expense on landowners' tax bills: school funding.
Senators will launch a review of the state's school-aid formula next month to consider new funding options, including a possible boost in state aid or new revenue sources that would allow school districts to lower their levies.
The study is a joint effort of the Legislature's Education and Revenue committees, which will convene in hopes of creating new proposals for next year's session.

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) â€” Some of Nebraska's groundwater regulators are joining forces to ensure that their districts' long-term water supply remains sustainable in dry years.
The Middle Niobrara Natural Resources District board said last week that it has partnered with four neighboring districts within the Niobrara River basin. The river is a popular spot for tourists in an area covering a large portion of northern Nebraska.
