Trent Lynn Hardy, 23, of North Platte, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010, in North Platte. He was born Jan. 8, 1987, at North Platte to Larry F. and Cathy (Nozicka) Hardy.
He grew up in the Thedford area, graduating from Thedford High School in 2006. He graduated from Mid-Plains Community College in 2008, in auto technology. He was currently employed at Seeverâs Auto Care.
Trent is survived by his mother, Cathy of Thedford; sisters, Tiffany Hardy of North Platte, and Tisha Hardy of Thedford; grandparents, Larry and Nina Hardy of Seneca, and many other relatives and friends.
Rose Rempe Allen, 85, of Oconto, passed away Thursday, Dec. 23, 2010, at JMMMC in Broken Bow.
She was born May 25, 1925, at Oconto, to Frank and Josephine (Stejskal) Hladky. She graduated from Oconto High School in 1943.
Glorene R. Foster, age 87, of Broken Bow, formerly of Kearney died Dec. 22, 2010, at the Jennie Melham Memorial Medical Center in Broken Bow. Funeral services were Dec. 27, at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney with Father Jim Hunt officiating. Burial was at Kearney Cemetery. Harley Eugene Poland was born Aug. 24, 1936, to Earl and Ruey Poland in Sargent. He passed away Nov. 27, 2010, at the Norfolk Veterans Home in Norfolk.
Harley attended school in Sargent before moving to Broken Bow. After school he enlisted in the United States Army and served his country in the Korean War.
Harley married Dorothy Rohde Nov. 13, 1958. This union was blessed with four children. Harley and Dorothy recently celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary.
Ruth Applegarth, 81 of Ishpeming, Mich., formerly of Broken Bow, died Dec. 24, 2010, at the Marquette General Hospital in Marquette, Mich.
She was born Aug. 14, 1929, in Anselmo, a daughter of the late Charles and Mabel (Booth) Land. She was a 1947 graduate of Comstock High School and received her bachelor's and master's degrees from Kearney State College.
June 12, 1948, she married Alvin Applegarth in Broken Bow, and he preceded her in death Dec. 13, 1991.
Dennis Keith Zeigler, 68 of Broken Bow, died Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010.
He was born July 12, 1944, in Broken Bow to Keith and Lillian (Ferguson) Zeigler. he spent most of his life in Broken Bow, graduating in 1962.
March 16, 1966, he married Ruby Davy in Moline, Ill. To this union three children were born; Darcy, Deana and Dustin.
Denny worked road construction until joining the Navy in 1965. He served in the Navy four and a half years, after which they returned to Broken Bow to raise their family.
Eric William Gallett was born May 24, 1965, in Manchester Center, Vt., and died Dec. 14, 2010, at Jennie Melham Medical Center in Broken Bow, at the age of 45 years, 6 months and 19 days.
Eric joined the United States Coast Guard in August, 1983, and was stationed in Long Beach, Calif. He met Tina Wilder on the USCG Cutter Hamilton in 1989, and proposed Thanksgiving of that year in CuraÃao (pronounced Curasow) in the Netherlands Antilles in the Caribbean. They were married Jan. 27, 1990, in Salem, N.H., and made their home in Boston, Mass.
Jerry (Grease) Kramer, 59, a rancher from Stapleton, passed away Dec. 18, 2010, at Great Plains Regional Medical Center.
He was born June 13, 1951, to Eugene and Lenora Kramer. Jerry graduated from Stapleton High School in 1969, with many athletic honors.
Jerry could make and repair anything out of nothing. He and his father did custom haying, and grass drilling, along with ranching.
Martha Frances Beeken, 76, was born Nov. 22, 1934, in Thedford, to Cecil and Lottie (Swisher) Herbaugh. She grew up and graduated from high school in Thedford.
She married Tom Beeken and together they had five children. Martha and Tom lived on the ranch in Gandy for many years. She was a member of Extension Club and a 4-H leader. She assisted every year with the Gandy alumni party. She also received several commendations for her leadership with 4-H.
Viola (Ada) Spencer Lucas was born June 7, 1925. She departed this life Dec. 14, 2010, at Broken Bow.
Services were Dec. 18, 2010, at the United Methodist Church in Arnold with Pastor Dale Coates and Frank Scott officiating. Interment was in the Arnold Cemetery with Arnold Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Viola and her twin sister, Iola, were born at the family home near Weissert. They were two of 12 children born to Ralph and Elsie (Pirnie) Spencer.
