Pamela Jane Rodocker, 64, of Halsey, died near Halsey Dec. 22, 2011.
She was born June 17, 1947, in Hebron, to Robert and Leona Williamson Widler. She lived in Belvidere, before later moving with her family to Anselmo, and then settling in Dunning.
She graduated from Halsey-Dunning High School in 1965, and Feb. 22, 1969, she married Terry D. Rodocker in Halsey. To this union was born a daughter, Teena. Pam made Halsey her home until her death.
Charles D. Grow, age 85, of North Platte, passed away Dec. 24, 2011, at the Kearney County Long Term Care Facility in Minden.
He was born Feb. 20, 1926, the son of Frank and Emily (Steen) Grow in Loup City. He grew up in Loup City, and graduated from Loup City High School in 1944. He entered the U.S. Navy and served in WWII. After his discharge he went to Kearney State College. Chuck graduated in 1949, and taught school at Anselmo/Merna for a year.
Harry Duane Jacobsen was born Aug. 14, 1954, in Visalia, Calif., to Harry and Norene (Hanlon) Jacobsen, and passed from this life Dec. 16, 2011, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center while awaiting a kidney and liver transplant. He was known to many people by different names - B.J., Bud and Wiener. His card playing buddies knew him as "Duey" - his friends at work called him "Jake". To his family he was "Duane"- that differentiated him from the other "Jakes" in the Jacobsen family.
Duane Erikson of rural Arnold passed away Dec. 16, 2011, at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg. Duane was born Oct. 8, 1924, on the family farm on Tallin Table south of Arnold to Martin and Hazel (Cole) Erikson, their only child.
Duane grew up farming and ranching. Duane attended rural grade school at District 240 and graduated from Arnold High School in 1942, where he was active in music. After high school, he continued working on the family farm and ranch, never wanting to do anything else.
Johnny R. McCarty, 86 of Grand Island, died Sunday, Dec. 18, 2011 at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island. Cremation has taken place and burial of ashes will be at a later date in the Dale Valley Cemetery at Merna. All Faiths Funeral Home is serving the family.
Mr. McCarty was born Oct. 6, 1925, at Merna, the son of Michael and Irene (Dale) McCarty.
Survivors are a brother, Lawrence (Mike) McCarty of Seattle, Wash., and 12 nieces and nephews.
John J. âJackâ OâNeill, 75 of Gilbert, Ariz., passed away peacefully Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011, at home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born June 7, 1936, in Anselmo to Josephine and George OâNeill, John had three brothers; Jim, Gary and Tom.
He moved his family to Arizona in 1968, where he worked for Valley National Bank. He enjoyed golf and was a long-time member of the Mesa Country Club.
John contributed generously to professional organizations and community groups - among them, the HoHoKams where he was past president serving as the Big Ho.
Nellie Smith, 96, of Sargent died Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011 at the Saint Francis Medical Center in Grand Island. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, at the Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Sargent. The Father Jim Hunt will officiate. Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery in Sargent. Visitations will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at the Rhoad Funeral Home in Sargent, with a 7 p.m. wake service at the church.
Keith D. Keys, age 83, died Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011, at his home in Elsmere. Funeral services will be Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011, at 2 p.m. in the Sandhills Community Church in Dunning, with Pastor Lee Wonch officiating. Burial will be in the Purdum Cemetery with military honors. Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be Monday, Dec. 19; 3 to 6 p.m. at the mortuary. Memorials are suggested to the Sandhills Community Church.

Gaylord Berent Ottun, 74, of Round Valley, passed away at the Jennie M.Melham Hospital Dec. 6, 2011, after a lengthy battle with Parkinsonâs disease.
Richard K. Foote, of Kimberling City, Mo., son of Robert and Garnet Foote, was born Sept. 5, 1933, in Hastings. He departed this life Dec. 9, 2011, in his home, surrounded by family, at the age of 78.
Dick graduated from Hastings High School in 1951, and Hastings College in 1957. He served in the U. S. Army from 1954-1956 and the Army Reserves for two years. Dick received the Good Conduct Medal and the Korean Service Medal. He was always very proud of his country and proud to be an American.
