William C. Doty, age 83 of Broken Bow, died Sunday, Dec. 4, 2011, at the Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Broken Bow.
Funeral services will be Friday, Dec. 9, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Broken Bow with Father Jim Hunt officiating. Burial will be in the St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery with Military Honors. Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow is in charge of the arrangements.
Toni Marie Turner, age 50 of Broken Bow, passed away Nov. 30, 2011, at the Jennie Melham Medical Center in Broken Bow. Memorial funeral services will be Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011, at 2 p.m. in Govier Brothers Mortuary at Broken Bow with the Rev. Todd Karges officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date. A memorial guest book may be signed at Govier Brothers Mortuary Wednesday, Dec 14, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Edward "Buck" Bolen, age 89 of Anselmo, died Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011, at the Golden Living Center in Broken Bow.
Private family services with military honors were Dec. 5, at the Ft. McPherson Cemetery at Maxwell, with the Rev. Doug Jones officiating. .
Edward "Buck" L. Bolen was born May 28, 1922, at Merna, to Archie Daniel and Edna May (Jacquot) Bolen. He was the youngest of five children. He graduated from Merna High School in 1942.
Carl Elfgren passed away at his home in Overton Nov. 30, 2011, at the age of 73.
Carl was born Oct. 20, 1938, in East Killingly, Conn., the second of six children born to Ernest and Dorothy (Oatley) Elfgren. He spent most of his childhood in Connecticut until the summers of 1955 and 1956, when he traveled by covered wagon with his parents, brothers and sisters to Nebraska.
Carl attended school in Connecticut thru his junior year in high school. After moving to Nebraska with his parents he graduated from Broken Bow High School in 1957.
Mabel Ione Parrish Thurman was born Jan. 3, 1907, on a farm near Bee, Nebr. She passed away Dec. 3, 2011, in McPherson, Kan., at the age of 104 years and 11 months--exactly one month shy of her 105th birthday. Her parents were Julia Etta Lusher Parrish and Arthur Warren Parrish.
In 1909, the family moved to Custer County, onto a farm four miles northwest of Oconto. Mabel attended Lucky Star District 213 and Lower Lodi District 73.
