Scott J. Bristol, 51 of Bulacan, Philippines, formerly of Broken Bow and Kearney, died May 20, 2011, at the Marcelo Padilla Hospital in Plaridel, Bulacan, Philippines.
A memorial of life service will be Wednesday, May 25, at 10 a.m. at the Kearney Church of Christ in Kearney with Eddie Lee officiating and R. P. Smith the "Cowboy Poet". Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow is in charge of the arrangements.
Scott was born at Broken Bow Jan. 29, 1960 to Max and Lenore (Slingsby) Bristol. December 3, 2010, he married Marita Ampuan in Guiguinto, Bulcan Phillippines.
Beverly J. Ferguson, age 70 of Ansley, died May 17, 2011, at the Valley County Hospital in Ord. All memorials are suggested to the Valley County Hospice.
Beverly (Whitman) Ferg-uson was born Jan. 12, 1941, in Loup City to Dean and Loma (Hyatt) Whitman. Bev attended grade school in Casper, Wyo, later moving back to the Arcadia - Westerville region.
Bev graduated from Arcadia High School with the class of 1959. Bev said, âYea, I graduated from high school - now what?â She didnât know what she wanted to do with her life, so she stayed home that summer and worked in the local cafe.
Amie Jo (Parker) Micek, age 34 of Ord, died May 22, 2011, at the Valley County Hospital in Ord.
Memorial services will be Thursday, May 26, at 10 a.m. at the Christian Life Center Church in Broken Bow with Pastor Mark Stones officiating. Memorials may be given to the family.
Amie was born Nov. 1, 1976, in Broken Bow, to Glenda J. Knapp.
Survivors include her husband, Damien Micek; daughters, Schanae and Kelly; son, Cade; her mother, Glenda Parker; sisters, Kellie Drake and Michelle McAlevy, and brother, Michael..
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Glen and Beth Knapp.
Linda Lou Bates, age 67, of Stella, passed away Tuesday, May 17, at the Nemaha County Hospital in Auburn. Funeral services were Friday, May 20, at the Hall Funeral Chapel in Auburn.
Linda Lou Schwaninger, daughter of Elgin Schwaninger and Dorothy (Cook) Schwaninger was born May 12, 1944, in Beatrice. She was one of five children born to this union. Linda graduated in Holdrege in 1962.
H.W. "Bill" Molyneux was born Dec. 6, 1927, to become the son of Homer and Mary (Cloud) Molyneux at his adoption Dec. 9, 1927, in Salt Lake City, Utah. As a child he lived in Salt Lake City, Kansas City, Denver and Omaha.
He spent his summers with his grandmother and grandfather Molyneux in Broken Bow.
By the time he was in high school he attended Kemper Military Academy for his junior and senior year and his two years of junior college. He then went to the University of Arizona to finish college with a degree in mechanical engineering.
Leona Mae Yates, age 80, of Broken Bow, formerly of the Cincinnati, Ohio area died Saturday May 21, 2011 at the Jennie Melham Medical Center in Broken Bow.
Funeral services will be held in Ohio, with burial in the Arlington Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Mount Healthy, Ohio. Govier Brothers Mort-uary was in charge of local arrangements
Leona's survivors include a son, Doug Yates of Broken Bow; brother, Kenny Cochran of Cincinnati, and one sister, Shirley Fitzgerald of Blanchester, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy; one sister, and one brother.
Vera Nicholson, 93, formerly of Broken Bow, passed away May 21, 2011, at the Colorado State Veteran's Nursing Home in Rifle, Colo.
Vera was born April 23, 1918, in Ord, to Frank and Ella (Hansen) Witt. She married Gus Nicholson Aug. 7, 1946, in Elkton, Md.
Vera is survived by her son, Jim Nicholson of Tennessee; brother, Russell Witt of Missouri; grandchildren Gail Cunningham, James Nichol-son, John (Deb) Nicholson and David (Alice) Nicholson;; great-grandchildren, Katharina and Jacob Nicholson and Erin Poole.
Joe Burnett was born Nov. 24, 1923, at Berwyn, the second child of Douglas and Maymae Pracht Burnett. He went to school and grew up around Berwyn.
He enlisted in the Army, served in WWII, and after his completed duty he returned to his family home at Merna.
He was united in marriage to Reva Payne April 23, 1958. To this union six children were born: Clifford (Vickie) Burnett of Merna, Carla (Allen) Williams of Merna, Elaine (Matt) Schoenrock of Cortland, Carole (Mark) Porter of Merna, Dale (Angela) Burnett of Anselmo and Marla (Jim) Dutton of Grand Island.
Ann Mary (Martin) Smith, 93, formerly of Arnold, passed away May 11, 2011, at the hospital in Callaway.
Ann was born May 22, 1917, in Wolbach to Robert D. and Mary A. Hansen Martin. She received her education in Wolbach, Greely County and Arnold. Ann worked in the canteen in North Platte during World War II.
Ann was united in marriage to Hal B. Smith July 4, 1935, in Arnold. The couple made their home in Kearney and then in Arnold, where she was employed by the movie theater and sold Avon for 51 years. They also lived in Logan County on the Garfield Table.
Ronald Claydean (Curl) Olsen was born in Broken Bow, July 22, 1959, to Betty Lou Eacker Olsen, and Clayton E'Dean (Curl) Olsen (deceased prior to his birth). Ron spent a part of his youth raised on several farms in rural Custer County; Anselmo, Merna, Victoria Springs area, with his mom, step-father Robert Taft George, sister Mary Janet George, and brother "Kenny" Kenneth William George. Early training made him a dedicated, dependable hard worker. Ron helped in the familyâs dairy operation and daily farm chores.
