Jerry Keyser, 80

June 18, 2012

Jerry Keyser, 80, of Callaway, formerly of Arnold, died Sunday, June 10, 2012, at Callaway District Hospital in Callaway, following a lengthy illness.
Jerry was born Jan. 19, 1932, at Kearney Hospital in Kearney, to Lester and Emma (Cruise) Keyser. Jerry moved to Arnold in September 1946, where he met his future bride, Jo Anne Spargo.
The couple was married Nov. 22, 1950, at North Platte. Four children were blessed to this marriage.
He was a member of the Elk’s Lodge, the Eagles Club, Moose Lodge, and a member of the Arnold Volunteer Fire Department, where he was an active EMT.

Herman Haefele, 83

Herman George Haefele, 83, entered into God's presence Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012, with his famity at his side.
He was born Oct. 24, 1928, on the Haefele family homestead, east of Callaway. His grandparents were pioneer homesteaders in Custer County.
He was the eldest of five sons born to Gecrge Vernon Haefele and Helen Elizabeth Neth Haefele. He grew up and
attended schools in Broken Bow, and graduated from Broken Bow High School in 1947. In that same year, Herm enlisted in the U.S. Army. He was stationed at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., and earned the rank of Sergeant.

Shirley Trotter, 70

June 7, 2012

Shirley Trotter, age 70 of Broken Bow, died June 5, 2012, at the Jennie Melham Medical Center in Broken Bow. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 9, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness' in Broken Bow with Terrence Ristov officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow. Interment will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery.

Myra Moon, 92

June 7, 2012

Myra Moon, age 92, was born at Milburn, May 15, 1920, to John Thomas Huffman and Mary Ellen Farley Huffman.She was the youngest of eight children. At the age of seven she started school. She played basketball and softball and enjoyed sports.She graduated in 1939 from Milburn. After she graduated she did waitress work. She married George Nekuda in Broken Bow in 1941. Their children are Gary Nekuda and Darro Nekuda. In 1953, she married Woodrow "Bus" Moon. In 1958, they had a son, Casey Moon. They lived in the Cumings Park Community until 1994.

Zane Harvey, 38

Zane Harvey died June 1, 2012 as a result of a tragic accident while driving a school van filled with the Broken Bow boys basketball team back home from a basketball camp.
Born Jan 8, 1974 in Broken Bow, to Robert and Monica (Scott) Harvey, Zane grew up in Stapleton, and graduated from Stapleton High School in 1992. During high school he spent the summers working on the Diamond Bar Ranch.

Anthony Blum, 24

Anthony Dale Blum, 24 years of age from Broken Bow, formerly of the Hildreth-Minden area, died Friday, June 1, 2012, as a result of a traffic accident near Ansley.
Anthony was born Aug. 8, 1987, in Minden, to Dale and Jane (Schwartz) Blum. He grew up in the Hildreth-Minden area and graduated from Minden High School in 2006. Anthony attended the University of Nebraska at Kearney and graduated from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln with a bachelor's degree in business education.

Albert F. Sherbeck, 70

Albert F Sherbeck was born Aug. 29, l94l, to Melvin H and Eileen (Hickenbottom) Sher-beck of rural Ansley. He went home to his Heavenly Father June 1, 2012, after a tragic motor vehicle accident.
Albert attended Ansley Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1959. While in high school, he participated in many sporting events and was an honor student. He would eventually give back to his Alma Mater by serving on the Ansley School Board of Education.

Louisa Zimmer, 94

Louisa C. Zimmer died Saturday, June 2, 2012, at Rose Lane Home in Loup City at the age of 94. She was born to Herman and Mary (Bernert) Langer on Valentine's Day, Feb. 14, 1918, near Mason City.
Her father died when she was four and a half years old. She and her mother returned to the home of her grandparents, Felix Bernert Sr.
Louise attended the Basin District 37 rural school through the eighth grade. She was a 1935 graduate of Mason City High School taking Normal training classes. She taught in rural schools for three years.

Earl Greene, Jr., M.D., 87

Earl George Greene, Jr., M.D., was born Aug. 22, 1924, and died June 4, 2012.
He was preceded in death by a son, Phillip F. Greene; granddaughter, Natalie J Greene.
He is survived by beloved wife of 62 years, Mary F. Greene; daughters, Mary E. Greene, Margaret M. Nolan (Mike), Anne M. Greene; sons, William H. Greene (Genevieve), Earl G. Greene, III (Barbara); grandchildren, Drew, Evan, Abigail, Jordy, Isaac, Toby, Sienna, and Liam.

Alvin Daily, 93

Alvin Leon Daily died peacefully June 1, 2012, at his home in Lincoln. He was 93 years old, having been born July 30, 1918, at Milburn, the youngest of Steve and Gertie (Farley) Daily’s nine children. He grew up on River Glade farm, by the Middle Loup River, graduating from Milburn High School in 1935. In 1940, suspecting he was not a good fit for the farming life, he enlisted in the US Marine Corps.
