Adah Darlene Neubauer was born Jan. 18, 1925, to Louis and Delight (Griffith) Neubauer at home on the ranch north of Purdum. She passed away Jan. 9, 2012, in Broken Bow at the age of 86 years, 11 months and 27 days.
Adah was the youngest child in her family and lived all her childhood years on the family ranch. Her mother taught her the first grade at home, due to ill health. She then attended grade school at Elsmere South District 101.
Verlie Larson, age 92 of Broken Bow, died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, at the Golden Living Center in Broken Bow. Funeral services will be Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Govier Bros. Mortuary in Broken Bow with the Rev. Mark Stones officiating. Visitation will be Thursday morning 11 a.m. to noon with the family greeting friends.
Burial will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery with Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be given to the Salvation Army.
Clay Struempler, age 73 of Loomis, died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012, at the Phelps County Memorial Hospital in Holdrege.
Clay was born Dec. 25, 1938, at the Buffalo community north of Lexington, to Albert and Isabel (Dirksen) Struempler. He attended country school north of Buffalo, and went on to attend high school in Oconto.
Willard Wilson Keller died at the Riverside Community Hospital, Riverside, Calif., Jan. 11, 2012. He was born June 28, 1917, on the Keller ranch at Cascade, Nebr. He grew up on the banks of the North Loup river where he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He attended Cascade Elementary School and graduated from Dunning High School in 1935. He attended the University of Nebraska College of Agriculture in Lincoln.
February 24, 1940, he married Myra Patterson of Dunning. To this union five daughters were born: Carolyn, Kay, Nelda (Babe), Willa, and Beverly.
Leland â€śLeeâ€ť Charles Teahon, 83, of Halsey, passed away in Kearney, Jan. 5, 2012. Lee was born Sept. 7, 1928, to Charles James and Clara Catherine (Franssen) Teahon in Anselmo.
He graduated from Broken Bow High School in 1945. After high school, Lee and some friends made their way to Cody to find work. It was during Leeâ€™s time in Cody that he met Anne Marie Barnes of Hay Springs.
Lee and Anne were married on Leeâ€™s 21st birthday at Nenzel. They moved to Broken Bow in 1950, where Lee worked for Fred Bates. During their time in Broken Bow, Lee and Anne had five children.
Francis Lloyd Wescott was born Nov. 19, 1925, at his grandmother's house a mile and half north of Brewster, just one half mile from where he lived most of his life. He attended school at Dunning and then Brewster. He went peacefully into the arms of his Savior Jan. 6, 2012.
He rode his horse to Ogallala when he was 16 all by himself. He then worked around Lisco, working cattle.
Hattie Hope Wolfe died peacefully Dec. 26, 2011, at Mt. Solo Family Home under Hospice care. Surviving are her son, Dean Fisher, and her daughter, Connie Wallace.
Edna Ruth Fisher, age 95 of Comstock, died at the Plum Creek Well Life in Lexington. Funeral services will be Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at the United Methodist Church in Broken Bow with the Rev. Todd Karges officiating. Interment will be in the Douglas Grove Cemetery at Comstock. Visitation will be Friday from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Govier Brothers Mortuary. Memorials are suggested to the Comstock Fire dept. or the Lexington United Methodist Church.
Donald G. Runyan, 89 of Indianapolis, Ind., passed away Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012. He was born March 18, 1922, in Mason City, to the late Wright and Eva Runyan.
Don was a veteran of the United States Air Corp. and graduate of Southern Methodist University. He worked for the FAA for 30 years, primarily as an Air Traffic Controller and later in data systems. Don was also a member of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church.
Lyle Duane Zimmerman was born in Broken Bow, Jan. 24, 1955 to Duane and Berniece (Wrasse) Zimmerman and was raised on his parents farm southwest of Ansley. He passed away Dec.20, 20ll, at the age of 56, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Funeral services were held in Broken Bow at Govier Brothers Mortuary Friday, Dec. 23, with Pastor Mark Stones officiating. A private family burial of his ashes was Friday, Dec 30, in the Broken Bow cemetery, with Pastor Mark Stones present.
