Clarrena F. Overholser, age 72, of Pleasanton, died Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Memorial services were Saturday, April 6, 2013 at St. James Catholic Church in Kearney with Father Joe Hannappel officiating. Burial will be later in Mason City Cemetery. Ted Spencer, age 78 of Brewster, died March 26, 2013, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Funeral services were Saturday, March 30, 2013, at the Brewster Gymnasium in Brewster, with the Rev. David Hansen officiating. Interment was in the Brewster Cemetery, with Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow in charge of arrangements. Memorials are suggested to the Brewster Fire and Rescue Unit.
Pearl Marie (Karnes) Stevens, 100, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2013, at Rose Lane Home in Loup City.
Services were. Wednesday, April 3, at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow. Burial was in the Merna Cemetery.
Mrs. Stevens was born Nov. 29, 1912, at the family farm in Anselmo. She was the fifth child of six children born to Walter Michael and Mary Catherine (Ward) Karnes.
Melva Marten, age 70 of Grand Island, formerly of Halsey, died March 28, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Society Grand Island Village. Memorial services were Monday, April 1, 2013, at the Halsey Gymnasium in Halsey, with the Rev. Linda Martin officiating. Private family inurnment will be at the Purdum Cemetery.
Melva Louise Ryman was born in Buffalo, NY Sept 14, 1942, to Melvin Ryman and Clarine Rodocker Ryman. Melva grew up in Halsey and graduated in 1960 from Halsey High School. From there she graduated from Kearney State College with a degree in teaching.
Margaret Bradley, age 66 of Brewster, went home into the welcoming arms of Jesus Friday, March 15, 2013, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island, after a recent battle with multiple myeloma.
Funeral Services were March 19, at St. Josephâ€™s Catholic Church in Broken Bow, with Fr. Jim Hunt officiating. She was laid to rest at the Brewster Cemetery.
Lucinda Mari Burnett, 47, of Yates Center, Kan., passed away March 8, 2013, as the result of a car accident.
Lucinda was born July 17, 1965, the daughter of Irl and Pauline (Kruger) George. She graduated from Shawnee Heights High School and received an associate degree from Allen County Community College.
Dwain Verne Myers, one of three children of Loren Verne and Marjory Ruth (Clay) Myers, was born Feb. 27, 1939, in Sidney. He attended school in Potter, the West Coast, and Broken Bow, before graduating from Broken Bow High School in 1956.
After high school Dwain attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln for a semester. He then transferred to Kearney State, where he earned his bachelors degree in education. While in school in Kearney Dwain joined the Nebraska National Guard. Later in life Dwain would obtain his masters in education and specialist in education at Kearney.
Andrew Peter Crawford Sr. of Minden, formerly of Axtell and Ansley, passed away March 6, 2013, at the Kearney County Health Systems in Minden. Funeral services were Saturday, March 9, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Mason City, with the Rev. John Lewis officiating.
Burial was in the Mason City Cemetery with Military Honors. Memorials may be given to the charity of your choice. Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow was in charge of arrangements.
Jay. T. Evans, 87, formerly of Berwyn, died Feb. 28, 2013, at the Masonic Home in Plattsmouth. Memorial services were Thursday, March 7, 2013, at the Masonic Home in Plattsmouth. Roby Funeral Home of Plattsmouth was in charge of arrangements.
Jay Theodore Evans was born May 18, 1925, at Berwyn, to Otto Evans and Ruby (Knapp) Evans. He had one sister, Cleo (Evans) Allen, who preceded him in death.
He attended grade school and high school at Berwyn, and graduated from Berwyn High School. Jay spent most of his life farming and ranching on his property south of Berwyn.
Elvira K. Bolli, 98, of Arcadia, died Sunday, March 17, 2013, at the Valley View Living Center in Ord.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, March 21, at the United Methodist Church in Arcadia with the Rev. Dr. Jeff D. Hale officiating. Burial will be in the Lee Park Cemetery near Arcadia. Visitation will be one hour before time of service at the church. Peters Funeral Home of Loup City is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Bolli was born July 14, 1914, at Taylor, the daughter of Charles and Minnie (Beals) Johnson.
