Edwin Banning, 89 of Mystic, Conn., passed away March 1, 2013, surrounded by his family. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 65 years, Helen (Robertson) Banning.
Ed was born Oct. 19,1923, in Mason City, to Roy and Ella (Reed) Banning. He grew up in Mason City with his younger sister, Harlene, and had, by all acounts, an idyllic childhood. He and all his friends spent their time helping their families, swimming in the Muddy Creek, looking for arrow heads and generally causing mischief. This was growing up in America at it's best.
David Leroy Tucker, age 60 of Broken Bow, died March 4, 2013 at Jennie Melham Medical Center in Broken Bow. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Govier Brothers Mortuary with Jerry Ricketts officiating. Interment will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery, with Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow in charge of arrangements. Memorials are suggested to the family.
David Leroy Tucker was born Oct. 15, 1952, at LoupCity, to Marion Seth and Clarissa Joyce (Tvrs) Tucker.
Mardelle Corrine Ellisâs life was filled with many interests, but of them all, she especially enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren play sports, working in her flower gardens, and going to yard sales. While pursuing her interests, Mardelle made wonderful friends and memories that lasted a lifetime.
Donald Dean Schroder, 82, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2013, at Good Samaritan Health Care Center after a long battle with cancer.
He was born June 25, 1930, at Ft. Calhoun, to Herman K. and Hulda M. (Schmidt) Schroder. He was the youngest of four children. He grew up in the communities of Ft. Calhoun, Purdum and Broken Bow.
He married Iris M. Van Ostrand March 17, 1951, at Kearney. To this union six children were born.
Merle Paine, 98, of Callaway, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, at Custer Care in Broken Bow, Nebraska.
Merle was born Nov. 6, 1914, in Callaway, to Fred G. and Lillian (Morgan) Payton.
Merle graduated from Callaway High School in 1932, and attended Kearney State College where she obtained her teaching degree. She taught in several of the country schools, the Oconto School and worked as a bookkeeper for the Oconto Bank where she met and married Glenn âJimâ Paine June 19, 1940.
Kathryn Frances (Klind-worth) Scott, 84, formerly of Hot Springs and Oral, S.D. and Custer County, Nebr., died Feb. 25, 2013 at the Clarkson Health Care Center, Rapid City, S.D. following a lengthy battle with cancer.
Kathryn was born July 19, 1928, in Milburn, to John and Orvia Marie (Kehler) Klindworth. She graduated from Merna High School and taught grade school in the Anselmo area.

Mardelle C. Ellis, age 80, of Broken Bow, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013 at the Jennie Melham Hospital in Broken Bow. A Memorial Service will be Saturday, March 9, 2013, at 3 p.m. at the Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Broken Bow with Minister Kathy Salts officiating. Memorials are suggested to the Our Saviour Lutheran Church.
Mardelle C. Ellis was born Nov. 30, 1932, to Harvey and Amelia (Frevert) Larsen at Wayne. She was married to Warren Ellis March 30, 1951 at Wayne.
Kristina Allen, 19, of Callaway, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, in an automobile accident near Giltner.
She was born June 12, 1993, in North Platte, to David Allen and Ann Marie Dauel. Kristina attended grade school in Florida and middle school at Fort Walton Beach, Fla. She moved to Callaway in 2007, where she attended school and graduated with the class of 2012.
Dennis Andrew Seidel, 55, of Sargent, died Feb. 24, 2013, at the Jennie M. Melham Memorial Medical Center in Broken Bow, as the result of a tractor accident.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 1, 2013, at the Sargent Public School in Sargent. Burial will be in the Somerford Cemetery near Sargent. Pastor Alan Petersen will officiate. A memorial visitation will be from 5 â 7 p.m. Thursday at Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Sargent Veteranâs Memorial.
Margie Ann Peterson, 84 of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Broken Bow, NE died Feb. 19, 2013, at her daughters home in Cedar Rapids from kidney failure. Funeral services were Feb. 23, 2013, at the Church of Christ in Broken Bow with Minister Jerry Rickets officiating. Inurnment will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery at a later date. Iverson Memorial Chapel of Broken Bow was in charge of arrangements.
Margie was born in Primrose, Aug. 15, 1928, the daughter of Emery and Clara (Aerhart) Cunningham. She grew up around the Spalding area with her parents, two sisters and a brother.
