Lino Peace, 74

March 25, 2014

Lino Herman Peace, 74, of Grand Island died March 4, 2014, at his home.
Mass of Christian Burial was Saturday, March 8, at Saint Mary's Cathedral in Grand Island with Father Richard Piontkowski officiating. Burial was Saturday afternoon in the Dale Valley Cemetery at Merna. All Faiths Funeral Home of Grand Island was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Peace was born June 17, 1939, in Broken Bow to Herman and Julia May
(Land) Peace.
Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Barbara; one daughter,
Debra Jones of Grand Island; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Terry and

Charles Minton, 70

Charles Leonard Minton, 70, died March 4, 2014, at his home in Merna. Chuck was born Aug. 8, 1943, at Anderson, Ind., to Leonard A. and Dorothy E. Minton.
Chuck went to school in Indiana and California and then joined and served in the Army from 1962-1965. After living in Indiana and California he later moved to Las Vegas in 1970.
Chuck marrried Brenda Lindner May 8, 1979, in Las Vegas. To this union two sons were born; Martin Leonard and Michael Lee. Chuck and Brenda later moved to Indian Springs, Nev., where Chuck became a DOD police officer.

Kenneth Ferguson, 92

Kenneth Arnold Ferguson, 92, passed away at the Grand Island Veterans Hospital Feb. 3, 2014. Kenneth was born April 27, 1921, at the Ferguson old home place 11 miles east of Brewster in Blaine County, to Robert and Viola Ferguson. Kenneth attended grade school in Pleasant Valley and graduated from Brewster High School in 1938.

Walter Bumgarner, 99

Walter E. Bumgarner of Arcadia, died March 2, 2014, at Independence Hall in Broken Bow. He was born Oct. 27, 1914, to Elton M. and Fanny I. (Linden-struth) Bumgarner on the family's farm in Webster County, Mo.
In June 1951, Walter met Josephine Fells in Arcadia, and they were married Dec. 22 of that year.
Walter was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; all his brothers and sisters; two brothers-in-law and their spouses; and a sister-in-law and her spouse.

Brenda Cestia, 58

Brenda Cestia, born Aug. 22, 1955, in David City, passed away March 1, 2014, in Highlands Ranch, Colo. Brenda is survived by her parents, William and Marilyn Peters; her husband of 33 years, John Cestia; her daughter, Amy; son, Michael; and her brother, Steve (Kathleen) Peters. Brenda attended grade school and junior high in Columbus, then moved to Broken Bow, where she graduated high school. Services for Brenda will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Brenda’s name to St.

Clinton "Gene" Goben, 75

Clinton E (Gene) Goben, 75, of Enid, Okla., passed away Feb. 21, 2014, in Enid. Funeral service was at Garriott Road Church of Christ in Enid  Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014,  with Dan Fraser and Bill Goben officiating. Burial/Interment followed at Memorial Park Cemetery. Anderson-Burris Funeral Home of Enid handled the funeral arrangements.

Shirley Coen, 99

Shirley D. Coen, 99, formerly of Arnold, passed away Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, at the Elwood Care Center in Elwood.
Shirley was born July 7, 1914, at Gandy, to Moses Lane and Jeanette Maud (Roberson) Adams. She attended the Logan County High School.
March 16, 1958, she and Lee Coen were united in marriage at Hershey. They moved to the family farm between Gandy and Arnold. When they retired they moved to Arnold.

Sharon Ideen, 74

Sharon Lynne Ideen was born April 11, 1939, in Gary Indiana to Edna and Lawrence Griner. She departed this life Feb. 17, 2014, at Family Tyes Assisted Living in Casa Grande, Ariz. She was 74 years old.
Sharon moved several times in her young life with her parents and sister. She moved from Gary, Ind., Dallas, Texas, and finally graduating from East Moline High School, Illinois in 1957. She worked a year after high school to save money for her dream to go to college.

Velma Ritz, 94

Velma Fern Ritz, 94, died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, at Edgewood Vista in
Grand Island. Graveside services were Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, at
Douglas Grove Cemetery, west of Comstock. Dan Naranjo officiated. At
Velma's request there was no public visitation. All Faiths Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.

Veronica Englert, 83

Veronica A. Englert, age 83 of North Platte, passed away Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at Great Plains Regional Medical Center. She was born Jan. 25, 1931, at Anselmo, to Ira and Katherine (Powers) Green. She graduated from Anselmo High School and attended Chadron State College.
