Mary Ellen (Trotter) Hendrickson was born March 16, 1947, to Herman and Ruby (Smith) Trotter in Broken Bow. She left this life Nov. 23, 2012, at the age of 65.
She attended school in Broken Bow. Her most recent employment was with Federal Housing Department as a manager of Regency Apartments. She also was a longtime employee of Becton-Dickinson. In May 1965, she married Ted R. Hendrickson, and to this union two sons, Mark and Brad, were born.
Carl Speer, 79 of Broken Bow, passed away Dec. 11, 2012, at Golden Living Center. Funeral services were Saturday, Dec. 15, in St. Josephâ€™s Catholic Church in Broken Bow with Father Jim Hunt and Deacon Michael Dodge officiating. Burial was in Broken Bow Cemetery with Iverson Memorial Chapel in charge of arrangements. A memorial has been established to the family.
Carl worked for Mead Lumber in Broken Bow until he went to work for Becton-Dickinson, where he retired in 1985. Carl loved his books, reading and learning.
Nina Russell, age 89 of Broken Bow, died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, at her home near Broken Bow.
Funeral services were Saturday, Dec. 15, in the United Methodist Church in Broken Bow with the Rev. Todd Karges officiating. Burial was in the Ansley Cemeter, with Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow in charge of arrangements.. Memorials are suggested to Health Connect at Home (Hospice) or the donor's choice.
Gladys B. Knispel passed away peacefully in her sleep Friday evening, Dec. 14, at Mt. Carmel Home Keens Memorial in Kearney. She was two months short of her 100th birthday.
She was preceded in death by her parents, W.A. and Abbie Haddix; two husbands, Delmar C. Edson and Delbert R. Knispel, and her four brothers.
Warren Felt, age 91 and 363 days, died at Heritage Hall in Broken Bow.
Funeral services will be Friday, Dec. 21 at 2pm at the Berean Church in Broken Bow, with burial before the church service at 10 am at the Sumner Cemetery. Memorials in his honor may be made to Gideon's or Broken Bow Berean Church. Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 20, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Govier Brothers Mortuary and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Berean Church, with the family greeting friends 4 - 6 p.m. at the church.
Funeral services for Clyde Loy will be Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Ansley with the Rev. Bill Ragan officiating. Burial will be in the Ansley Cemetery with Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be Thursday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. with the family greeting friends 5 - 7 p.m. at Govier Brothers Mortuary. Memorials may be given to the First Baptist Church in Ansley.
Robert (Bob) Lee Miller, 54, of West Point, was peacefully gathered in Christ's arms and taken to his heavenly home, Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012.
Funeral services were Monday, Dec. 10, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in West Point with the Rev. Richard Bringewatt officiating. Burial was at Mount Hope Cemetery. Stokely Funeral was in charge of arrangements.
Nola C. Duryea, 77, of Broken Bow, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at the Heritage Living Center in St. Paul.
Services were Saturday, Dec. 8, at the United Methodist Church in Broken Bow, with the Rev. Todd Karges officiating. Burial was in the Broken Bow Cemetery. Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Duryea was born Dec. 13, 1934, at Broken Bow, the youngest of seven children, to Charles and Nelle (Pinkley) Carland.
Harley Richard "Dick" Hanson, 88 of Scotia, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at the Grand Island Veteran's Hospital in Grand Island.
Funeral services were Dec. 11, 2012 at the Oconto Community Building in Oconto with Pastor Jonathan Musgraves officiating. Burial with full military honors was in the Oconto Community Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Shiners or Grand Island Veterans Hospital Hospice Unit.
Franklin Garfield Townsend, 73, peacefully passed away November 28, 2012, at Golden Living Center in Broken Bow.
Franklin was born Jan. 26, 1939, at Crawford, the first son and fifth child of Frank James and Angie D. (Hack) Townsend. Until he was 9 years old, he attended Crawford Grade School. From the age of 9, Frank lived in several Nebraska communities.
In the early 1970s, he moved to Broken Bow, where he met and married Virginia "Ginny" Lee Parish Jan. 27, 1975.
