Frances Darlene (Backhaus) Jepsen, 81, passed away on July 14, 2014 in Broken Bow, at her home in Heritage Hall. She was surrounded by family and loved ones.
She was born to the late Henry and Iona (McElhaney) Backhaus in
Torrington, Wyo., April 17, 1933.
Frances attended grade school and graduated from Torrington High School.
She married the late Burton Eugene Jepsen Nov. 22, 1953, in Torrington. They later moved to Chappell, where she worked in the Chappell Public Schools cafeteria.
Betty Jane Pinkston McDowell, 89, passed away peacefully July 9, 2014 ,at the Callaway District Hospital in Callaway.
She was born Feb. 17, 1925, in a sod house near Arnold to Homer and Leona Cook Pinkston. She graduated from Arnold High School with the class of 1941. After graduation she taught school in the sandhills north of Arnold.
March 14, 1942, she married Robert Lavern McDowell in Grand Island. They celebrated their 66th Anniversary in 2008. They had three daughters, Sandra, Jane and Betty Jo.
Daniel B. Lutz, 84, of Lincoln passed away July 21, 2014.
Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. July 25, at St. Marks United Methodist Church, 8550 Pioneer Blvd., Lincoln with Pastor Wayne Alloway officiating.
Visitations are 6 - 8 p.m. July 24, at Wyuka Funeral Home, Lincoln, and one hour preceding the service at the church. Interment will be at Wyuka Cemetery after church service and reception.

Keith Kastens, age 85, of Merna, died Monday, July 14, 2014, at Heritage Hall Care Center in Broken Bow.
Funeral services were Friday, July 18, at the United Methodist Church in Broken Bow with Minister Kathy Salts and Milly Winkler officiating.
Govier Brothers Mortuary was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Merna Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Our Savior Lutheran Church.
Rita Mae Moore, 81, passed away peacefully in her home in Albany, Ore., July 14, 2014.
Rita was born Febr. 10, 1933, in Loup City, to John and Maggie (Kowalski) Mazankowski as their tenth child on the family farm in Sherman County. She attended the country school in Sherman County, and graduated from Litchfield High School in 1951. She achieved a teaching certificate and taught country school for one year.
She married John â€śJackâ€ť Moore in 1951. Jack preceded her in death.
Dorothy Myers, age 92, of rural Eddyville, died Friday, July 18, 2014, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Dorothy Lee Maupin, was born on Good Friday, April 14, 1922, during a blizzard in North Platte. She was the second oldest of nine children born to Robert and Mary Dolan Maupin of rural Grainton.
She attended a small rural school for 2 years and then the Grainton School for the next 10 years, graduating in 1939 as salutatorian of her class of seven.
Oconto, NE- Beulah Eggleston, age 82 of Oconto, died Wednesday June 18, 2014 at the Callaway Good Life Center in Callaway, NE.
Larry D. Caudle, age 67, of Merna, Nebraska died Sunday June 15, 2014 at his home in Merna. NE. Memorial services will be held Friday June 20, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Anselmo Merna High School Gymnasium with Rev. Doug Smith officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Govier Brothers Mortuary.
Larry Caudle passed away unexpectedly at his home on June 15, 2014. He was born in Omaha ,Nebraska on August 31, 1946 to Floyd and Opal (Barnard) Caudle.
Mary Alyce Tierney, age 99 of Broken Bow, died April 29, 2014, at the Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Broken Bow. Funeral services will be Monday, May 5, 2014, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oconto with Father Jim Hunt officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, May 4, from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. at Govier Brothers Mortuary with a Christian wake service being held at 5 p.m. at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow.
Dylan Gene Woodward, the son of Jeffery Craig Woodward and Denise Renae (Baxa) Woodward, was born Dec. 30, 1992, at Belleville, Kan., and passed away in Hays, Kan., April 24, 2014, at the age of 21 years, 3 months, and 24 days.
Dylan grew up and attended schools in Belleville, graduating from Republic County High School in 2011. He then attended Missouri Auction School and Cloud County Community College. He currently was attending Ft. Hays State University, majoring in Agronomy.
