Darline Daily, age 86 of Broken Bow formerly of Milburn, died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2104, at her home in Broken Bow.
Funeral services were Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow with the Rev. Seth Bates officiating. Burial ws in the New Helena Cemetery near Anselmo. Memorials have been established to the family to be designated at a later date.
Darline Delores Daily was born July 15, 1927, near Anselmo to Charlie and Agnes (Stithem) Pettis. She graduated from Anselmo High School.
Paul Carothers, the last of seven children of Dr. Paul Carothers and
Maybelle Chase Carothers of Broken Bow, died Jan. 17 in Beatrice. He was 83.
An avid hunter and angler all of his life, Paul also was a high school teacher and football coach, by profession and a farmer by avocation. He farmed in Custer County early in his life and upon retirement in the 1990s, he and his wife, Donna, lived on their farm north of Broken Bow. He delighted in returning to his home town in retirement and enjoyed renewing old friendships there.
Lawrence Charles Cacak, 89 passed away Jan. 19, 2014 at Heritage Care Center in Fairbury. He was born to Frank and Elizabeth Pavlicek Cacak Nov. 23, 1924 at Thompson, Nebr.
He is survived by his wife, Verda of Fairbury; son, Harold of Orange County, Calif.; one daughter, Carol Allen and husband Jay, of Broken Bow; one grandson, Ben Allen of Omaha; one granddaughter, Jessica Bartak and husband Scott of Merna, and two great-grandchildren, Aaron and Megan Bartak of Merna.
Margaret Adelia (Smith) Brass, age 95, of Lexington, died Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at the Plum Creek Health-care Community.
Marge, as she was known, was born Feb. 17, 1918, in Sargent, to Albert and Adelia (Sullivan) Smith. She graduated from Sargent High school in 1935. She attended Kearney State College to obtain a teaching certificate and taught at Round Valley rural school near Sargent.
She was married to Loren Brass Sept. 22, 1938, in Sargent. To this marriage were born William Loren Brass, Robert Garold Brass, Trudy Ann Brass and Thomas Anthony Brass.
Dorothy Adams, age 85, of Mason City, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Funeral services were Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, at the Baptist Church in Mason City with the Rev. Bill Ragan officiating. Burial was in the Mason City Cemetery with Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow in charge of arrangements.
Dorothy Adams was born March 22, 1928, near Mason City, to James and Olive (Crosley) Schall. She attended Basin School and graduated from Mason City High School in 1946. She was married to Glenn W. Adams Feb. 8, 1948, in Broken Bow.
Billy B. Day 86, of Loup City, died Monday, Dec. 30, 2013 at St. John's Good Samaritan Society in Kearney. Funeral services were Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at St. Josaphat's Catholic Church in Loup City with J.H. Schroeder, Doug DeNeui and Darrell Holzinger officiating. Burial was at the Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City with military honors by the Loup City American Legion Post 48. Higgins Funeral Home

Mora Jo McIntyre-Sanders, 91, went to be with the Lord on Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 2013.
Anyone who knew Jo would share a memory - her smile and her laugh. Joâ€™s smile was beautiful and her laughter frequent.
Jo was born on a ranch in South Dakota to Loleta and Garland McIntyre in 1922. Two years later, she was joined by a brother, Bob. She loved her family dearly and for a lifetime.
Dorothy Wilson, 94, of Topeka, Kan., passed away Jan. 1, 2014, at McCrite Plaza Retirement Community. She was born Sept. 1, 1919, to Clarence M. and Ruth (Jarvis) Thompson in a sod house on her grandparentâ€™s homestead south of Brewster.
Eight of her growing-up years were spent on what is now known as Pressey Park, south of Broken Bow.
She attended grades 7-9 in Broken Bow, and 10-12 in Oconto. After graduating from Oconto High School in 1936, she attended Kearney State Teachers College.
Arthur Howard Grint, son of Harold A. and Helen (Finley) Grint, was born Jan. 21, 1922, in Sargent. He died Dec. 21, 2013, in Cerritos, Calif., at the age of 91 years 11 months.

Wendell Carl Case, 84, of Ansley, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013. The second of three children, Wendell was born Feb. 13, 1929, to Carl and Edith (Sherbeck) Case. With the exception of his military service, he lived his entire life in Ansley, and was born and raised in the same house, a fact he was proud of. He graduated from Ansley High School in 1947, and on June 14, 1948, he enlisted in the Army. During his Army service, he spent a year in Puerto Rico, where he contracted tropical phagedena, which led to a medical discharge from the Army June 13, 1953.
