George Ernst Sanders, age 79, of Ansley, died Tuesday May 12, 2015, at Saint Francis Hospital in Grand Island.
Funeral Services were Monday, May 18, in the First Baptist Church in Ansley, with the Rev. Michael Laing officiating. Burial was in the Ansley Cemetery with Military Honors.
George was born April 22, 1936 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Herbert Harvey and
Pauline Katheryn (Diehl) Sanders.
When George was nine-years-old his mother and he moved to San Antonio, Texas, where he attended San Antonio Schools. During the summer he would stay with his father in San Jose, Calif.
Grace Ann (Ovitz) Varney, 85, of Broken Bow, died May 13, 2015, at the Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Broken Bow.
She was born Sept. 21, 1929, in Whiting, Ind., to Frank and Lucile (Taylor)
Graceâs early years were spent in Whiting, Ind., graduating from William Woods College in Fulton, Mo. She attended the University
of Nebraska at Lincoln where she met and married Thomas T. Varney III in
Lincoln Nov. 12, 1950.
To this marriage two sons were born. They
moved to Broken Bow shortly afterward, joining Tomâs father and grandfather in the banking and insurance business.
Memorial services remembering Bertini Joyner Talbot will be at the First Presbyterian Church in Broken Bow Monday, May 18, at 11:30 a.m.
The family would like to invite everyone to join them for a luncheon in the church basement following the services.
Tyler James Vanderheiden died May 2, 2015, in North Platte, at the age of 20.
Tyler is survived by his parents, Tim and Shannon Vanderheiden; sister, Sydney Vanderheiden; brother, Will Vanderheiden of North Platte; grandparents Derrill and Belinda Larrimore and Doug and Betsy Walker of Jackson, Ala.
He is preceded in death by grandparents, Don and Donna Vanderheiden of Broken Bow; and grandfather, Johnny James of Coffeeville, Ala.
Tyler was born March 28, 1995, in Mobile, Ala.
He graduated from North Platte High School in 2013.
Marion âPoochâ Olson, age 79, of Anselmo died Monday, April 27, 2015, at the Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Broken Bow.
Funeral services were May 2, 2015, in the United Methodist Church in Broken Bow with Pastor Andrew Black officiating.Â
Burial was in the Merna Cemetery with Military Honors.Â
Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow was in charge of the arrangements.Â
Memorials are suggested to the Heritage Hall Nursing Home or the Asera Care Hospice.Â Â
Dr. Berl W. Spencer, 79, beloved husband, father, grandfather and longtime family physician in Ogallala, went home to his Lord and Savior Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014, after a lengthy illness, at the Englewood Meridian Retirement Home of Englewood, Colo.
Berl Warner Spencer was born Jan. 27, 1935, in Broken Bow, the son of Lowell and Ida (Worm) Spencer.
He attended Broken Bow public schools and was in Kindergarten when he first met his future bride, Barbara Thurman.
Bill D. Hircock, 78, of Hot Springs, Ark., passed away April 19, 2015.
He was born March 14, 1937, in Broken Bow, to the late George William and Vera Ardis (Horne) Hircock.
Bill was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Hot Springs.
Bill volunteered throughout his life. In Colorado, he served as a scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts.Â He volunteered in many places after his family moved to Minnesota. In his local area, Bill volunteered with his local church, Place of Hope Ministries, Lake Geneva Christian Center, and by mentoring his students.Â
Gayleene Lyale Luther Daugherty passed away at home April 21 2015.
She is survived by two daughters, Jennifer (Paul) Cramer, Aurora, Colo., and Michelle Daugherty, Rio Rancho, N.M.; a grandson, Marc Cramer; a great-granddaughter, Kaylen Cramer, Aurora, Colo.; two brothers Jerald (Donna) Luther of Kimball, and Gary (Darlene) Luther of Carlsbad, N.M.; and many nieces and nephews.
Gayleene was born in Mason City, Jan. 17, 1933, to Pat and Marie Commeree Luther.
She taught school in a one room school house after high school graduation.
J. Stanley Martin, age 87 of rural Broken Bow died Monday, April 20, 2015, at the Quality Senior Village in Broken Bow.
Funeral services will be Friday, April 24, 2015, at 1:00 P.M. at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow with Pastor John Carney and Pastor Doug Saner officiating.
Burial will be in the Custer Center Cemetery near Broken Bow. Visitation will be held Thursday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow.
Memorials have been established to Gideonâs Bibles or the Church of God in Broken Bow.
Robert L. âBobâ Thomas, 90, of Callaway, passed away Saturday, April 25, 2015, at Callaway Good Life Center.
Bob was born March 13, 1925, in Dorchester, to Lawrence and Grace (Hickenbotham) Thomas.Â He was raised by his dad and stepmother, Jennie and grew up in the Crete and Dorchester areas.Â
He moved to Callaway as a junior in high school, graduating from Callaway High School in 1943.Â
