Lillian Kingston , 90 of Kearney, formerly of Arcadia, died Aug.31, 2014, at St. Johnâ€™s Care Home in Kearney.
Funeral services were Sept. 5, in the United Methodist Church in Arcadia with Pastor Jeff Hale officiating. Burial was in the Lee Park Cemetery West of Arcadia.
Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
Govier Brothers Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
Kenneth W. Cooley, 90, passed away Aug. 30, 2014, at Rivermont Gardens, Norman, Okla.
Kenneth W. Cooley was born Aug.25, 1924, on a farm south of Berwyn, near Cumro. The second child of John W. and Avis Uhlman Cooley, Kenneth attended grade schools at Sargent Valley, Round Valley, Clear Creek, and Rye Valley, Custer County. He attended high school at Round Valley and Triumph, and graduated from Callaway High School in 1942.
Lyle Joseph Mattox, age 80, of Broken Bow, died Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014, at the Golden LivingCenter in Broken Bow.
Funeral services were Sept. 10, 2014, in Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow with Pastor Larry DeMoss officiating.
Burial was at the Broken Bow Cemetery with Military Honors.
Lyle was born May 13, 1934, in Broken Bow, to Everett and Viola (Sells) Mattox. Lyle attended Broken Bow Schools and graduated from Broken Bow High School in 1952. He was actively enlisted in the United States Army from Sept. 10,1954, to Aug. 31, 1956.
Leo Schmid, age 83 of Broken Bow, died Tuesday Sept. 2, 2014, at the Golden LivingCenter in Broken Bow.
Funeral services were Monday Sept. 8, 2014, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Broken Bow with Father Jim Hunt officiating. Burial was in St. Josephâ€™s Catholic Cemetery. A Rosary service was Sunday evening at St. Josephâ€™s Catholic Church.
Edna Prestes age 98 of Broken Bow formerly of Dunning, died Saturday Sept. 6, 2014 at the Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Broken Bow.
Funeral services will be Thursday, September 11, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. in the Sandhills Community Church in Dunning, with the Rev. Lee Wonch officiating. Burial will be in the Ogallala Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. mountain time.
Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow are in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are to the family for designation at a later date.
Curtis Andersen, age 85 of Broken Bow, died Friday, Sept. 5, 2014, at the Jennie Melham Medical Center in Broken Bow.
Funeral services were Sept. 9, 2014, at the First Baptist Church in Broken Bow with the Rev. Jurdan Counts officiating. Burial was in the Broken Bow Cemetery. Govier Brothers. Mortuary of Broken Bow is in charge of the arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church or the Prairie Pioneer Center.
Curtis Wesley Andersen was born Nov. 20, 1928, to Andrew L. and Emma M. (McMullen) Andersen between Adams and Filley, NE.
Agnes E. Hagood, 96, was born March 16, 1918, and passed away Aug. 31, 2014.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. John E. Hagood; son, John R. Hagood; parents, Ray and Laura Casteel; and brother, Evert Casteel.
She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Sallach; granddaughters, Monica (Chad), Michele, Megan, Amantha (John); greatgrandchildren, Riley, Alyssa, Zoe, Dylan and Joslyn; daughter-in-law, Susan Tanfield
The family will receive friends Thursday, 6-8 p.m. at West Center Chapel in Omaha.
Her funeral will be Friday at 10 a.m. at West Center Chapel in Omaha.
Betty Jean (Ritz) Wagner, 80 years, of Tekamah, passed away Monday, Aug. 25, 2014, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.
Betty was born Dec.18, 1933, in Comstock,, to Christian G. A. Ritz and
Vella M. (Grim) Ritz Oxford. She graduated from Broken Bow High School.
June 14, 1953, Betty married Kenneth L. Wagner of Merna. After living a few years in Broken Bow and one year in Grand Island, the couple moved to Omaha
Mae Waller of Falls Church, Va., passed away peacefully Aug.24, 2014. She was born July 22, 1924, in Ansley, to Dudley and Mabel Pester.
Mae grew up in Ansley during the Great Depression. Her father had many jobs, and her mother worked in Social Services for Custer County for many years.
Alice A. (McCallum) Crooker was born April 22, 1931, to David and Lillie (Petet) McCallum in Anselmo. Due to the death of her mother, she stayed with her Aunt Bertha and Uncle Charlie in Merna. She graduated from Mason City, and went on to teach in the Mullen area.
August 11, 1952, she married Carl "Bud" Crooker in Broken Bow. Bud and Alice moved to a ranch south of Wood Lake. To this union, they were blessed with seven children, David, Georgia, Linda, Marie, Larry, (who died in infancy), Lillie and Joe.
