Brenda Cestia, born Aug. 22, 1955, in David City, passed away March 1, 2014, in Highlands Ranch, Colo. Brenda is survived by her parents, William and Marilyn Peters; her husband of 33 years, John Cestia; her daughter, Amy; son, Michael; and her brother, Steve (Kathleen) Peters. Brenda attended grade school and junior high in Columbus, then moved to Broken Bow, where she graduated high school. Services for Brenda will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Brendaâ€™s name to St.
Clinton E (Gene) Goben, 75, ofÂ Enid, Okla., passed away Feb. 21, 2014,Â inÂ Enid. Funeral service was atÂ Garriott Road Church of Christ in Enid Â Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014,Â Â with Dan Fraser and Bill GobenÂ officiating. Burial/Interment followed atÂ Memorial Park Cemetery.Â Anderson-Burris Funeral Home of EnidÂ handled the funeral arrangements.
Shirley D. Coen, 99, formerly of Arnold, passed away Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, at the Elwood Care Center in Elwood.
Shirley was born July 7, 1914, at Gandy, to Moses Lane and Jeanette Maud (Roberson) Adams. She attended the Logan County High School.
March 16, 1958, she and Lee Coen were united in marriage at Hershey. They moved to the family farm between Gandy and Arnold. When they retired they moved to Arnold.
Sharon Lynne Ideen was born April 11, 1939, in Gary Indiana to Edna and Lawrence Griner. She departed this life Feb. 17, 2014, at Family Tyes Assisted Living in Casa Grande, Ariz. She was 74 years old.
Sharon moved several times in her young life with her parents and sister. She moved from Gary, Ind., Dallas, Texas, and finally graduating from East Moline High School, Illinois in 1957. She worked a year after high school to save money for her dream to go to college.
Velma Fern Ritz, 94, died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, at Edgewood Vista in
Grand Island. Graveside services were Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, at
Douglas Grove Cemetery, west of Comstock. Dan Naranjo officiated. At
Velma's request there was no public visitation. All Faiths Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.
Velma was born Oct. 1, 1919, in Comstock, the daughter of Hazel
Veronica A. Englert, age 83 of North Platte, passed away Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at Great Plains Regional Medical Center. She was born Jan. 25, 1931, at Anselmo, to Ira and Katherine (Powers) Green. She graduated from Anselmo High School and attended Chadron State College.
James â€śJimâ€ť O. Peterson, 89, of Arnold, passed away Feb. 11, 2014, at the Callaway District Hospital. He was born July 18, 1924, to Emil and Esther (Trude) Peterson at Beatrice.
As a young boy he moved with his parents to Grand Island. At the age of 14, he received Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord and loved to share his faith. He graduated from Grand Island High School with the class of 1942.
Delores â€śElaineâ€ť (Young) Poland, 82, of Lincoln, died Dec. 31, 2013. She was born June 21, 1931, in Custer County, to Glen and Blanche (Loyd) Young. Elaine was a retired clerk for several local businesses. She was a member of Capitol City Christian Church in Lincoln, and also was active in the Second Baptist Church. She volunteered at BryanLGH Medical Center, the Lied Center and Encounter Center at Morrill Hall.
Cody Deets Johnson, age 48, passed away Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, of Stage IV Glioblastoma Multiforme. He was in the loving company of family members.
Cody was born Aug. 3, 1965, at Fremont, to Gilbert Ross and Dian Gammel Johnson. He graduated from Oakland-Craig and joined the Marine Corps. Cody was married previously to Judith A. Cantrell and Collette Largent. To these marriages, two children were born, and one adopted.
Louise E. Schmidt, age 94 of Merna, died Thursday Feb.13, 2014, at the Heritage Hall Care Home in Broken Bow.
Funeral services were Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow with the Rev. Dawn Black officiating and rites by the Broken Bow D.O.E.S. Burial was in the Merna Cemetery. Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow was in charge of the arrangements. Memorials are suggested to the Broken Bow D.O.E.S.
