Frances Faye Govier, 88

June 10, 2015

Frances Faye Govier, 88, passed away June 1, 2015, at the St. Francis Hospital in Grand Island. She had been living at the Good Samaritan Village in Grand Island prior to her death.

Kay Verlea Towns, 77

June 10, 2015

Kay Verlea Towns was born April 18, 1938, in Broken Bow, to Evelyn and Bennie Hall.

She graduated from Merna High School with “The Palmer Methodist Business Writing Teachers Certificate” in 1955 and started teaching at Prairie Hill country school outside of Merna.

April 2, 1954, she met Dick Towns at the Merna Legion Hall at a Hadley Barret Dance. They were married Dec. 26, 1955.

She was a ranch wife, mother and also was employed by the Corner Style shop 11 years, receptionist for Prairie Eye Care for 30 plus years and she worked at the counter at Runza for the last two years.

Pamela S. Gates, 62

June 4, 2015

Memorial Services for Pamela S. Gates, age 62, of Broken Bow, were Wednesday, June 3, at The Nebraska One Box Convention Center, 2570 S 27th Avenue, Broken Bow, with Dennis Fiedler officiating. Inurnment will be in the Gates Cemetery.

Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow was in charge of the arrangements.

Ella Mae Jensen, 84

Funeral services for Ella Mae Jensen, age 84, of Neligh, formerly of Winnetoon, were Monday, June 1, 2015, at Christ Lutheran Church, rural Creighton. The Rev. Terry Huber officiated, with burial in Bloomfield City Cemetery in Bloomfield.

Brockhaus Funeral Home in Creighton, was in charge of arrangements.

Ella Mae died Monday, May 25, 2015, at Golden Living Center in Neligh.

Ella Mae (Mock) Jensen, daughter of George and Lydia (Falke) Mock, was born May 16, 1931, at Creighton. Ella Mae was baptized June 4, 1931, by Pastor Stegemann at Christ Lutheran Church in Bazile Mills.

Beverly Cox French, 76

June 4, 2015

After a joyfully busy life as a rancher’s wife, mother, and grandmother, Beverly Cox French went to be with Jesus. Beverly was healed of Parkinson’s Disease and all ailments May 20, 2015.

Beverly was born Oct. 3,1938, in Alliance, the daughter of Donald and Donna (Osborn) Cox.

Beverly grew up on a ranch homesteaded by her grandparents and attended a one room country school north of Mullen.

She graduated from Mullen High School and then graduated from the University of Nebraska with a bachelor’s degree in Home Economics.

Dennis Lee Brass, 77

Dennis Lee Brass, 77, of Kearney died Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at his home surrounded by family. A celebration of life service was Friday, May 29, 2015, at the Kearney First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gary Main  and the Rev. Samm Johnston officiating. 

Memorials are suggested to Aseracare Hospice or the Kearney Area Humane Society. 

Condolences may be shared online at O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Beverly Ann French, 76

May 27, 2015

Beverly Ann French, 76, of Mullen, died May 20, 2015, in Lakeside Hospital in Omaha.

Survivors include her husband, Roger French of Mullen; her son, Jerry (Tonya) French of Kremmling, Colo.; two daughters, Wanda (Brian) Lousberg of Denver, Colo., and Anne (Howard) Kauk of Omaha; one brother, Marvin (Linda) Cox of Mullen; and seven grandchildren.

The family chose cremation. The memorial service will be Friday, May 29, at 2 p.m. MDT in the Sandhills Community Bible Church in Mullen. Pastor Mark Danielson and Kurt Businitz will officiate.

Michael Anthony Stark, 42

Michael Anthony Stark was born Dec. 18, 1972, to Kathryn Eileen Stark in Sidney. He passed away May 20, 2015, at his home in Amherst, Colo., at the age of 42.

Mike attended school in Broken Bow, graduating with the class of 1992. He married Kandi Jo McKillip March 5, 1993, in Bushville. To this union three children were born, Michael Allen Stark, Ryan Jesse Stark and Lynnette Louise Stark.

Beverly Ann Johnson, 65

Beverly Ann Johnson, aged 65, of Fernley, Nev., passed away Sunday, May 24, 2015, in her home after a brief struggle with cancer.

Beverly was born to Alfred Copsey and Maxine Casteel Copsey July 1, 1949, in Burwell.

She married Larry Johnson of Mason City, Nov. 12, 1967.

She completed beauty school at Queen Anne’s School of Beauty in Kearney and worked as a beautician for a short time.

Aleda Bell Peterson, 75

Aleda Bell Peterson, 75, of Gothenburg, died May 24, 2015, at her home north of Gothenburg.  

She was born May 27, 1939 at Cozad, the daughter of John and Ima (Troxel) Abbott.

Aleda grew up on the family farm north east of Cozad and graduated from Cozad High School. She married Dean Peterson Aug. 7, 1960, at Cozad, and they made their home on the farm north of Gothenburg. Aleda and Dean had five children, Kay, Karen, Kim, Kelly and Mark.
