Jason Thomas Bates, 35

Jason Thomas Bates of Alabama, born Aug. 31, 1979, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014, at the age of 35.

He loved the time he got to spend with family. Growing up he enjoyed playing with his siblings and cousin Kristy. As a father, he looked forward to family night every week. He loved teaching his boys how to fix cars and build things, especially with wood, and to show them that if they set their minds to it there was nothing they couldn’t do. He always said that in his perfect world he and his boys would play video games all day.

Crystal Lynn Donnelson, 30

Crystal was born July 1, 1984, to Tammy and Rickey McAlevy in Broken Bow. She lived in Mitchell, with her family. She took her last breath Dec. 21, 2014, while having a long awaited Christmas gathering with her family in Merna. The last day of her life was filled with excitement and fun.

Donald Bradford Gouldie, 84

Donald Bradford Gouldie was born Dec. 8, 1930, at Stamford. His mother was Sylvia Ellen (Goosic) Gouldie and his father, Thomas John Gouldie. Don was an only child. His mother remarked that when he was born, she knew she would never do better so he remained an only child.

Don attended Stamford elementary through the eighth grade and graduated from Arapahoe High School in 1948.

Don attended Hastings College then joined the U.S. Navy in 1950 and served aboard the USS Montrose from May 1950 to April of 1954. He was honorably discharged in October 1954.

Marjorie J. Witthuhn, 80

Marjorie J. Witthuhn, 80, of Callaway, Nebraska, passed away Monday, Dec. 22, 2014, at CHI Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. 

Marjorie was born Feb. 17, 1934, in Minden, to Clarence and Esther (Stadler) Rodine.

Marjorie lived all ofher life in Callaway. She attended StopTable district 93 rural grade school and attended Callaway High School. She graduated with the class of 1951.

Darlene G. Warner, 90

December 24, 2014

Darlene G.Warner, 90, of Lexington, passed away Sunday, Dec. 21, 2014, at her home in Lexington. 

Darlene was born April 17, 1924, in Oconto, to Larry and Susie (Wells) Beck. She grew up in Oconto and was a 1942 graduateof Oconto High School. 

She marriedArnold Duschanek and three children were born to this marriage; Barry, Diann and Dennis. The marriage later ended in divorce. 

Darrel Dudley, 76

Darrel Dean Dudley, of Florence, Mont., died peacefully Monday, Dec. 15, 2014, after a long fight with cancer. He was born Aug. 10, 1938, in Litchfield, to the late Duane and Myrtle Dudley.

September 8, 1973, he married Patricia Kemper and she survives him. Also surviving him is his daughter, Crystal and her husband, Jim Wood; his daughter, Amber and her husband, Kevin Hernandez; his grandson, Chandler Dudley; his siblings, Joanne Wilson and Glen Dudley; and many other loved ones, long-time friends, and family members.

Gerald E. Pierson, 86

Gerald E. Pierson, 86, of Arcadia passed away Friday, Dec. 19, 2014, at the Rose Lane Home in Loup City.

Funeral Services were Monday, Dec. 22, 2014, at the Arcadia United Methodist Church. The Reverend Dr. Jeff D. Hale officiated. Burial was in the Arcadia Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Arcadia Rescue Unit or the Gathering Place.

Ord Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Bertini Talbot, 105

December 15, 2014, Bertini Joyner Talbot passed away peacefully at Heritage Hall at JMMC where she had lived for the past five years. Those who knew her know firsthand how loving, kind and gracious she was, and she will be sorely missed by so very many people. Her love and grace made her one of a kind and she can now be at peace with her Savior.

Bertini was born April 12, 1909, to parents, Grove Ortello Joyner and Rosella Fodge Joyner in the family home just north of North Park School. She was educated in the Broken Bow school system and also studied at the University of Nebraska.

Berl Donald Klitzman, 87

December 18, 2014

Berl Klitzman son of Wilbur and Margretta (McClellen) Klitzman was born at home in Ansley, (delivered by his grandmother, Sarah (Eggleston) Klitzman) Aug. 28, 1927.

Berl grew up in Ansley, attending school there and in 1944 began a lifetime of work on the railroad. He worked the area of Alliance to Hazard for 44 years. Berl worked for CB&Q (Chicago Burlington and Quincy) railroad in 1944. CB&Q changed in the 1960’s to Burlington Northern. Burlington Northern merged with Santa Fe Railroad in 1989. Berl retired after the merger.

Michael Flynn, 57

Michael Flynn, age 57, of Blue Hill, died Thursday Dec. 11, 2014, peacefully at his home surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Funeral services were Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2014, at the United Methodist Church in Broken Bow with the Rev. Todd Karges officiating.

Burial was in the Broken Bow Cemetery with Govier Brothers Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
