Vera Leona Potratz was born June 14, 1924, to Arthur F. and Celia S (Burgett) Potratz in Bassett. The family lived in the Bassett area. The family lived in several locations during Veraâ€™s elementary school period. They moved to southeast Missouri in 1936, but only lived there for a short time.
Vera attended high school at Rock County High, participating in the American Legion Drum and Bugle Corp, Band, Glee Club.
Vera loved to dance and it was at a dance that she met Frank Jilg in 1940.
Vera graduated from Rock County High School in 1942, during WWII.
James Wayne Davidson age 73, passed away March 19, 2015, in his home at Milburn, surrounded by his family.Â
A Celebration of Life Service was Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow with the Rev. Don Schauda officiating. Burial was in the Gates Cemetery.Â
Memorials are suggested to the Gates Community Center Fund.

Beverly Ann Huxoll, 80, of Arapahoe, formerly of Holbrook, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2015, at Cambridge Memorial Hospital in Cambridge. She was born April 7, 1934, at Merna, to Kenneth & Frieda (Leibert) Kennedy.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and son, Mark Charles Huxoll.
Joan Downey, age 75, of Merna, died Saturday, March 14, 2015, at her home near Merna.
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 21, at 9 a.m. at St. Anselms Catholic Church at Anselmo, with Father Jim Hunt officiating.
A rosary service will be Friday March 20, at 7 p.m. at St. Anselms Catholic Church.
Visitation will be Friday at Govier Brothers Mortuary from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and prior to the Rosary in Anselmo.
Burial will be in the Saint Andrews Dale Valley Cemetery.
Jacob J. Hothem, of Hickman, formerly of Sumner, passed away March 12, 2015, at the age of 90 years and 9 months old. Born June 12, 1924 in Sumner, NE to Jacob Charles and Cassie Floy (Walker) Hothem.
He was an U. S. Army Veteran.
He was a retired farmer/service manager at Farmland Coop and also worked at Dawson County Weed District.
Kay Irene Jacobsen, 78, of Kearney, formerly Broken Bow, died Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at the Homestead Assisted Living in Kearney.
Memorial services were Tuesday, March 17, 2015, at First Baptist Church in Kearney. the Rev. Roger McDermott officiated and burial will be later.
Memorials are suggested to the Homeward Trail Bible Camp in Mason City, care of the family.

Gerald E. â€˜Gilâ€™ Springer, 68, of Dunning, died Tuesday, March 10, 2015, in an accident near Dunning.
Gil was born May 2, 1946, at McCook, to Don and Rose (Larson) Springer. He graduated from Cozad in 1965.
Gil started farming in the Platte Valley area, then moved to the Sandhills, working for several ranches in the area.
He married Alice Prentice Aug. 18, 1973, in Mullen. To this union two children were born.
Former Thedford resident, Donna Brewer, 90, died Tuesday, March 10,
2015, at Wahoo.
Donna Lucy (Sinkler) Brewer was born July 21, 1924, in Loup City, to James and Frieda (Meyers) Sinkler. She grew up in Sherman and Custer counties on several farms. She attended and graduated from Litchfield High School. Following graduation, she taught at a small
country school in Sherman County.
Donna married Earl Brewer, and they made their home in Thedford.
She was active as a 4-H leader, in the American Legion and VFW
Auxiliaries, and she ran concessions for Thedford and Legion baseball.
Edith Allen passed away March 7, 2015, at Cozad.
Edith was born Feb. 22, 1930, at Callaway, to James and LaVina (Garringer) Elston.
She was raised in Oconto, and graduated from Oconto High School.
Edith taught school for awhile.
December 24, 1954, she married Earl Lou Allen, Sr. Edith and Earl were blessed with six children, James, Earl Jr., Cathy, Jeanne, Vicky and Sherry.
They lived in Plattsmouth, York and Dawson County.
Edith worked as a nurses aid for several years before her husband passed away in 1968.
Kyle L. Pierce, age 19, of Oconto, died Monday, March 2, 2015, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Funeral services were Friday, March 6, in the Callaway High School gymnasium with Pastor Larry DeMoss officiating.Â Burial was in the Lodi Cemetery between Oconto and Callaway.Â
