Funeral services for Leona M. McAlevy, age 79 of Merna, were Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, in The Immanel Lutheran Church in Merna with Pastor Ryan Loeslie officiating. Burial was in the Merna Cemetery with Iverson Memorial Chapel of Broken Bow in charge of arrangements.
A memorial has been established to the family.
Jeffrey L. Kawata, age 62, of Broken Bow, died Friday Jan. 25, 2013 at the Bryan LGH-East Hospital in Lincoln.
Jeffrey Lynn Kawata was born Dec. 31, 1950, to Dolores Hurlbert and Jiro Kawata, in Ord. His family moved to Grand Island, where Jeffrey attended grade school through high school, graduating in 1969 from Grand Island Senior High.
Frances Irene Geiser was born Sept. 27, 1934, to Archie Delbert and Irma Lea Geiser, on the farm where they lived north of Arnold. She passed away Jan. 24, 2013, in North Platte, with her loving family at her side.
Her childhood was spent in and around Arnold where she attended schools and worked. May 9, 1954, Frances married Marion W. Scott, her loving husband of 58 years.
She lived her entire life in the Arnold area other than six months spent in Phillips, on the farm with Marion's brother Eugene and his wife Alice.
Charles Watts, age 77, of Ansley, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Charles D. Watts was born March 8, 1935, in Broken Bow to Clifford and Lula (Trew) Watts. November 14, 1953, he married Carolyn Hunkins in Ansley.
Harold Arthur Chase, 91, of Lexington, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at his home. He was born March 18, 1921, in Mason City, to Jess and Lillie Mae (Davis) Chase.
Harold grew up in Mason City and attended school there, graduating with the class of 1941. He was an outstanding basketball player and team captain.
He married Irdell Dona Chartraw, his high school sweetheart in Broken Bow, May 25, 1944, while on furlough. The couple was blessed with one daughter, Barbara.
Allen L. Geiser, age 80 of Broken Bow, died Jan. 21, 2013, at the Melham Memorial Medical Center in Broken Bow.
Allen Leroy Geiser was born Aug. 25, 1932, in Arnold, to Lennie and Evelyn Geiser. Allen graduated from Merna High School in 1950. He served two years in the Army, spending much of his time in Alaska.
He married Rosella Beatty in Arnold, March 17, 1957.
Raymond L "Pete" Royle, 70, passed away Dec. 22, 2012 at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs Colo. He was born Oct. 30, 1942, the son of Lloyd Raymond Royle and Mary Elizabeth McCullough Royle. He spent his eary years in Custer County and granduated from Ansley High School in 1960. He joined the Air Force in 1964 and served for four years. Following his discharge he operated a service station in Versailles, Mo. He moved to Colorado Springs in 1973, and was employed by the city of Colorado Springs in the electric department.

Elmer LeRoy Geiser was born June 27, 1923, to Elmer Charles and Vera Fern (Phifer) Geiser on their ranch northeast of Arnold. He was the second of seven children.
Bub became known by the nickname he acquired as a young child. He was called “Little Brother” which came out sounding like “Little Bubber”.
He attended Arnold High School and graduated in 1940.
June Mehal, 90, of Pompano Beach, Fla., passed away Feb. 2, 2013, in Bradenton, Fla., where she had been a resident for the past year at the Summerfield Assisted Living Home.
Leila Johnson, age 96, of rural Anselmo, died Thursday Jan. 31, 2013, at her home near Anselmo.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at St. John's Episcopal Church in Broken Bow with the Rev. Mary Jane Gockley officiating. Burial was in the Merna Cemetery at Merna, with Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow in charge of arrangements.Memorials may be made to the Broken Bow Library.
Leila Johnson was born June 22, 1916 in Gross, Nebr., to Carl Antoine and Ruth (Keller) Micheel. She grew up and attended school in the Thedford and Wood Lake communities.
