Audrey Peterson, 84

November 2, 2012

Audrey Peterson, 84, of Lincoln (formerly of Sargent, NE), died Oct. 23, 2012. Audrey worked 26 years as the Sargent Hospital administrator.
Survivors include her children, Michele (Brian) Kent of Pender, Todd (Karen) Peterson of Lincoln; grandchildren, Daniel and Dylan Kent; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jack and Shirley Chaffin of Lincoln; many beloved nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
She was preceded in death by husband, Dean Peterson; sisters, Shirley Schroeder and Joyce Nielsen, and brother Keith Nielsen

William "Randy" Borders, 63

William Randall Borders, 63 of Cody, Wyo., formerly of Broken Bow, passed away Oct. 7, 2012, at his home.
A memorial service was Oct. 11, 2012, at the Ballard Funeral Home in Cody, Wyo. Memorials are suggested to his family.
Randy R. Borders, son of William Rainey Borders and Ruth (Austin) Borders, was born Feb. 7, 1949, in Albion. He was a graduate of Broken Bow High School, class of 1968.

Jerry Norris, 73

Jerry Duane Norris was born Aug. 28, 1939, in Brewster. He was the second child born to Dan and Mary Cuplin Norris.
Jerry spent his early childhood in Brewster and attended elementary school there. When Jerry was a teenager his family moved to California. He graduated from John Marshall High School in 1958.
During this time he worked with his father in the family owned machine shop. He attended two years at LA Community College and studied engineering. Jerry decided that his true calling was becoming a tool and die maker, so he went back to working in the machine shop.

Colleen Geiser, 80

Colleen Yvonne (Wilson) Geiser was born July 31, 1932, in Berwyn, to Tom and Anna (Roessler) Wilson. Her family headed west to Oregon during the Great Depression, but had to settle in Idaho when they ran out of money.

Alverta Cooper, 96

October 25, 2012

Alverta (Wegener) Cooper passed away Oct. 16, 2012, at her home in Lincoln at age 96. She was born Oct. 1, 1916, in Cedar Creek, to Edward and Anna (Duryea) Wegener. The family moved to property near Merna when she was two, and she attended school (K-12) in Merna, graduating in 1934. Upon graduation she began teaching in rural schools in central Nebraska.

Mona West, 78

Mona M. West, 78, of Kearney, died Oct. 12, 2012, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Funeral services were Wednesday, October 17, 2012, at 10:30 am at the Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney with Dean Pofahl officiating.
Burial was in the Pleasanton Cemetery with visitation preceeding on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, at the Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney. Jacqueline Bristowe, 85

Jacqueline Carothers Bristowe, 85, of Stockton, Calif., passed away peacefully on Oct. 6, 2012.
She was born in Broken Bow, Nebraska, on July 10, 1927, to Dr. Paul Henry Jacob Carothers and Maybelle (Chase) Carothers. Jackie attended local schools and left home to attend the University of Nebraska in 1945.

Clarke Stanford, 75

Mr. Clarke Jack Stanford, age 75, died in him home in Tigard, Ore., Sept. 10, 2012.
Clarke was born Jan. 14, 1937, in Merna. He raised his kids in the Boise Valley, followed his son to Phoenix, Ariz., for a number of years, and settled in Tigard, Ore., with son and grandkids.
He worked as heating and cooling refrigeration, major appliance repair specialist until retiring in 2001.
One of his hobbies he shared with only a select few was his love of drawing. Clarke instilled in his family the importance of Faith in the Lord and family.

James McMurtry, 82

Jim L. McMurtry, 82, of Scottsbluff, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, at his home.
His memorial service was held Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff with Pastor Ron Nuss-Warren officiating.
Cremation was at Sunset Memorial Park Crematory with Military Honors provided by the Nebraska Army National Guard. The family requested casual attire in honor of Jim.
A memorial has been established in care of the family for designation to a charity at a later date. Tributes of sympathy may be left at www.dugankramer.com.

Shirley Kolbo, 84

Shirley Nadine Kolbo, 84, of Callaway, Neb., passed away Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, at the Good Samaritan Society in Callaway.
 Shirley was born Aug.15, 1928, in Callaway, Nebraska to Chris and Blanche (Williamson) Roth.
 She graduated in 1946 from Callaway high School.  Shirley married the love of her life, Raymond L. Kolbo on May 27, 1951, at Callaway E.U.B. Church.  They cherished 61 years together, all of them residing in Callaway, except for four years living in Manhattan, Kan., and Fremont, Neb. 
Raymond and Shirley were inseparable and devoted to each other.
