Shane John Peck was born Nov. 5, 1970, at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha and went to be with the Lord Sept. 19, 2012, at the age of 41, at peace, and set free.
At a young age Shane trusted Christ as his Savior. He was active in his Sonlife youth group, and had fond memories of their mission trips.
Shane spent three years in Seattle and loved that area and in many ways called it home.
Shane loved kids and working in Bible school.
Nancy Vohland, age 74 of Broken Bow, died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at her home in Broken Bow.
A memorial service for Nancy will be Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Broken Bow with the Rev. Sharon Ruzicka officiating. A registry book may be signed at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow. Memorials are suggested to the Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund.
Nancy Lee Vohland was born Dec. 19, 1937, to CA and Doris (Traphagan) Owen. Nancy grew up in Broken Bow and graduated from Broken Bow High School in 1955. She attended Hastings College.
Callie L. McClendon, 85 years of age, of rural Elwood, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege.
Callie was born Aug. 25, 1927, in Oconto, the eldest of six children born to Henry Raymond and Helen Elizabeth â€śNellieâ€ť (Newhouse) Martin. She received her education at Callaway, graduating from Callaway High School with the class of 1945.
In 1952, Callie moved to Indiana. She was employed by Metro Glass for more than 20 years.
September 18, 2012, Dean (Bud) E Wood mounted his horse one last time and rode off into greener pastures.
Bud rode into this life May 7, 1931, in Custer County. Born to Ruth E (Summers) and Leo R Wood, he spent his childhood on the family ranch north of Sumner Ne attending grade school at Mt Olive as it was then known. He and his sister Dona spent many happy hours horseback on the lower meadow. As the 3rd generation to reside on the home place he quickly developed a life long love for the land and the cattle they raised on it.
Landin Morgan Deakin, age 16 of Broken Bow, was called back to his heavenly home Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, following his valiant fight with illness for the past several months. Landin loved much.
Laddie Kmoch, age 61 of Broken Bow, died Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, at the Callaway District Hospital.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow with the Rev. Ralph McKay officiating. Memorials are suggested to the family or the donor's choice.
Sherry "Sam" Keezer, age 51 of Burlingame, Kan., died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012, at her mother's home in Ansley.
Memorial graveside services were Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, at 10 a.m. at the Ansley Cemetery with the Rev. Mel Shepherd officiating. Mem-orials may be given to the donor's choice in Sherry's memory.
Sherry "Sam" Ann Keezer was born June 30, 1961, at Sargent, to Jack and Nancy (Reid) Keezer. Since her dad worked construction, Sam lived in many different places growing up. She graduated from Table Rock High School in Table Rock.
Ralph Shoemaker, age 73 of Ansley, died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012, at the UNMC in Omaha.
Funeral services were Saturday, Sept. 1, at the First Baptist Church in Ansley with the Rev. Bill Ragan and the Rev. Don Schauda officiating. Burial was in the Box Elder Cemetery at Cumro. Memorials have been established to the family. Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow was in charge of arrangements.
Ralph E. Shoemaker was born Oct. 21, 1938, at Cumro, to Ross and Hazel (Sorensen) Shoemaker. Ralph attended school at Flat Bottom rural school and graduated from Ansley High School.
Dale Gordon Douglass passed away peacefully July 26, 2012, at the age of 91, just one month shy of his 70th wedding anniversary. He was the last of his generation, being predeceased by his siblings.
He was a loving husband and father to all his children. He had a full, responsible, and abundant life. His family will greatly miss him.
Joyce Elaine Hendricks, 76, of Callaway, passed away Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, at the Golden Living Center in Broken Bow.
She was born Dec. 20, 1935, at Oconto, to Fred and Elsie (Studley) Dittmar. Joyce graduated from Oconto High School with the class of 1953, and then furthered her education at Kearney State College where she studied to be a teacher. She taught rural school in Custer County for a couple years.
December 20, 1954, she married the love of her life, Richard Hendricks, in Oconto. Four children were blessed to this marriage; Mike, Judy, Dan and Dennis.
