Leonard H. Nehls, age 74 of Arcadia, died Aug. 22, 2011, at the Jennie Melham Medical Center in Broken Bow.
Memorial services will be Monday, Sept. 12, 2011, at 10 a.m. in the Arcadia Community Center in Arcadia with the Rev. Jeff Hale officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery at Loup City. Memorials have been established to the Arcadia Fire and Rescue Units.
Leonard H. Nehls was born March 23, 1937, at San Bernardino, Calif., to Henry and Mamie Pearl (Warford) Nehls. Leonard attended school in Kearney.
Nolan Lloyd Cooper, a resident of Ardmore and owner of Aerotech in Marietta, Okla., died Aug. 31. No services are scheduled at this time.
Nolan was born Dec. 13, 1940, in Dunning. He attended schools in Dunning, Anselmo, Minatare and Sargent, and graduated high school in Central City.
Jonathan H. Scott, 30, of Concordia, Kan., died Aug. 28, 2011, at Cloud County Health Center in Concordia.
Jonathan was born Nov. 23, 1980, in Seward, the son of Monte and Patricia (Young) Scott.
He is survived by his partner, Nathan Bargen of Concordia, Kan.; parents, Monte and Pat Scott of Sargent; sister, Alaunda J. Scott King of St. Joseph, Mo.; brothers David M. Scott of Sargent, Adam R. Scott of Sargent, Jacob E. Scott of Longmont, Colo., Jarod F. Scott of Broken Bow, and Michael J. Scott of Cheyenne, Wyo.; and grandmother, Mary Ann Young of Lamar, Colo.
Donald Jay Douglass was born Aug. 7, 1924, to Eben and Lois (Smith) Douglass near Sommerford. He passed away Aug. 28, 2011 at Jennie M Melham Memorial Medical Center in Broken Bow.
Donald graduated high school from Gates Public School. After high school he cowboyed with his older brother Earl, on the Walt Cole ranch north of Anselmo. He was drafted into the US Navy where he served as a radio operator on Adak Island off the coast of Alaska during World War II.
Angela Ethel (Dull) Gaffney of Anselmo passed away Aug. 29, 2011, at Golden Living Center in Broken Bow.
A requiem Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anselm's Catholic Church in Anselmo Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011. Burial will be at St. Anselm's Catolic Cemetery at Anselmo. Govier Brothers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
The family requests that memorials be made to St. Anselm's Church.
Angela was born June 13, 1921, in New York City to Robert Adam and Ethel Mary (Smith) Dull.
Hazelle M. Pearson, age 89 of Lincoln, died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011. She was born in New Albany, Ind., oct. 28. 1921, to Everett and Gertrude (Dawson) Hogue.
Hazelle is survived by a granddaughter, Lisa A. Pulse of Arizona, grandson, Lonnie Prall II of Lincoln, two great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William; son, Lloyd, and daughter, Billie Jean.

Twila Darlene Duryea, age 81 of Fullerton, formerly of Broken Bow, died Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011, at the Golden Living Center in Fullerton.
Graveside services were Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011, at 2 p.m. at the Merna Cemetery at Merna, with the Rev. Mark Stones officiating. Burial was in the Merna Cemetery with Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow in charge of arrangements.
Twila Darlene Duryea was born June 25, 1930, at Merna, to Leo Albert and Jennie Elizabeth (Lewis) Duryea.
Michael Joseph Sittler was born Jan. 11, 1958, at the Broken Bow Community Hospital and left this life Aug. 10, 2011, at the Avera McKenna Hospice House in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Michael graduated from Anselmo-Merna High School with the class of 1976. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, raising hogs and rodeos. He liked to joke and have a good time.
He resided in South Dakota at the time of his death, and was employed by New Fashion Pork, Inc.
Dan Bruce Slagle, age 59 of Sargent, died Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Dan was born April 17, 1952, in Loup City, to Paul and Ardes (Huffman) Slagle. he attended country school at West Union and then at Sargent Public School, where he graduated in 1970.
As a youth, he was active in many school activities, including FFA and sports. During the summer months, Dan and his younger brother, Tim, helped on the family farm and participated in 4-H.
E. Ray Brown, age 89 of Broken Bow, died Saturday Aug. 20, 2011 in Milford.
Funeral services were Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. in Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow with the Rev. Mary Jane Gockley officiating. Burial was in the Janesville Cemetery at Berwyn, with Military Honors.
Memorials have been established to the Mid Nebraska Individual Services or the Broken Bow Fire and Rescue Units.
Ray is survived by his daughters, Sabra Hughes of Milford and Nedra (Don) Wilcox of Omaha; son, Doran (Julie) Brown of Hickman; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
