Elizabeth â€˜Lizâ€™ Ivory-Davis 71, of Ainsworth, lost her battle with cancer March 18, 2015, at the Brown County Hospital in Ainsworth, with her family at her side.
Liz was born on July 8, 1943, in Manhattan, N.Y., to Patrick J. Davis and Helen (Gaynor) Ivory.
She married Ross Charles Cowles in 1965 and from this union had one daughter, Suzette (Cowles) Utter.
In October of 1981 she remarried Jay Davis of Sturgis, S.D., and was married to him until his death in 1998.
Brenda Joyce Brychta, age 73, passed away Wednesday, March 18, at home in Denison, Texas.
She was born Dec. 18, 1941, in Lexington, to Verle and Naomi Francis. Brenda attended elementary school in Broken Bow and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1960.
Brenda worked in Lincoln at an insurance company, after graduating, where she met Judy Brychta. The two new friends decided to move to Denver, Colo., where Judy introduced Brenda to her brother, David.
Verla Ruth Shafer, age 78, of Broken Bow died Friday, March 20, 2015, at the Jennie Melham Medical Center in Broken Bow.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 4, 2015, at 11:00 A.M. at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow with the Rev. Mary Jane Gockley officiating.Â
Burial will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery.Â
A register book may be signed at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow. Â
Memorials are suggested to the Jennie Melham Memorial Medical Center.
William Everett Zoerb, Jr. of Callaway, Nebraska, departed this earth March 17, 2015, at the Callaway Good Life Center, at the age of 91 years & 6 months.
Bill was born September 19, 1923, to William and Mabel (Morris) Zoerb at Callaway. He grew up on a farm north of Callaway and graduated from Callaway High School in 1942.Â At the time he was going to be drafted into the service a horse fell with him and broke his leg which took months to recuperate.
Joan M. Downey, age 75, died Saturday, March 14, 2015, at her home in Dale Valley near Merna.
Funeral services were Saturday, March 21, 2015, at St. Anselmâ€™s Catholic Church in Anselmo, with Father Jim Hunt officiating. A wake service was Friday, March 20 in St. Anselmâ€™s Catholic Church. Burial was in the St. Andrewâ€™s (Dale Valley) Catholic Cemetery near Merna.Â
Memorials are suggested to St. Anselmâ€™s Catholic Church or St. Andrewâ€™s Catholic Cemetery.Â
Vera Leona Potratz was born June 14, 1924, to Arthur F. and Celia S (Burgett) Potratz in Bassett. The family lived in the Bassett area. The family lived in several locations during Veraâ€™s elementary school period. They moved to southeast Missouri in 1936, but only lived there for a short time.
Vera attended high school at Rock County High, participating in the American Legion Drum and Bugle Corp, Band, Glee Club.
Vera loved to dance and it was at a dance that she met Frank Jilg in 1940.
Vera graduated from Rock County High School in 1942, during WWII.
James Wayne Davidson age 73, passed away March 19, 2015, in his home at Milburn, surrounded by his family.Â
A Celebration of Life Service was Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow with the Rev. Don Schauda officiating. Burial was in the Gates Cemetery.Â
Memorials are suggested to the Gates Community Center Fund.

Beverly Ann Huxoll, 80, of Arapahoe, formerly of Holbrook, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2015, at Cambridge Memorial Hospital in Cambridge. She was born April 7, 1934, at Merna, to Kenneth & Frieda (Leibert) Kennedy.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and son, Mark Charles Huxoll.
Joan Downey, age 75, of Merna, died Saturday, March 14, 2015, at her home near Merna.
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 21, at 9 a.m. at St. Anselms Catholic Church at Anselmo, with Father Jim Hunt officiating.
A rosary service will be Friday March 20, at 7 p.m. at St. Anselms Catholic Church.
Visitation will be Friday at Govier Brothers Mortuary from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and prior to the Rosary in Anselmo.
Burial will be in the Saint Andrews Dale Valley Cemetery.
Jacob J. Hothem, of Hickman, formerly of Sumner, passed away March 12, 2015, at the age of 90 years and 9 months old. Born June 12, 1924 in Sumner, NE to Jacob Charles and Cassie Floy (Walker) Hothem.
He was an U. S. Army Veteran.
He was a retired farmer/service manager at Farmland Coop and also worked at Dawson County Weed District.
