The Broken Bow Lady Indians defeated Ainsworth 52-38 in the first round of the Southwest Conference Tournament last night. The Lady Indians fell behind early and trailed throughout most of the first half.
After trailing at halftime, the Lady Indians increased their intensity on defense. The Lady Indians' full court pressure created a number of Ainsworth turnovers resulting in quick points to take the lead early in the third quarter.
The Sandhills/Thedford Knights advanced to the semi-final round of the Sandhills Conference Tournament with a 71-44 win over Arthur County last night. The Knights will play Brady Thursday at 5 p.m. CT. Brady was a 71-42 winner over Hyannis.
Mullen, who had a first round bye, will play Cody-Kilgore Thursday at 3:30 p.m. CT. Cody-Kilgore defeated SMC in first round play 70-26.
Tonight, the girl's tournament begins. The Mullen Lady Broncos have free pass to the semi-finals while the Sandhills/Thedford Lady Knights play SMC at 5:30 p.m. this afternoon.

The Sandhills Conference basketball tournament schedules have been released and the Mullen boys and girls each drew the No. 1 seed and a first round bye. The the tournament will be played at Brady High School. Boys action kicks off Monday while girls action begins Tuesday. The Sandhills/Thedford boys will play Arthur County Monday at 5:30 p.m. and the Sandhills/Thedford girls will play Stapleton/McPherson County Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.

The Southwest Conference boys and girls basketball tournament brackets have been released. The Broken Bow Lady Indians drew the No. 3 seed and will host Ainsworth Monday night at 7 p.m. If the Lady Indians win Monday night they will advance to play the Valentine/Cozad winner Jan. 27. The girl's championship game will be Jan. 29 at 4:30 at North Platte High School.

BROKEN BOW -- The Broken Bow boys basketball team won their third game and second straight against Centura last Friday night.
Defense and rebounding was the theme through the first three quarters. The Indians then found some offensive momentum in the fourth quarter scoring 16 points while holding to Centura to 9.
